If a coworker of yours left their iphone/blackberry on your desk and left for the day...
...would you go through it?
I left mine at work today, and my boss has it. Just sent me an email letting me know that my friend called me.
I feel uncomfortable that he has it. He's a good guy....but you can get onto my email, facebook, and see all texts on my phone............
He wont go through it right?

Re: If a coworker of yours left their iphone/blackberry on your desk and left for the day...
I'd call their house from my own phone & leave them a message. Turn it off & leave it in their office.
I also lock my phone down so no one is going through it.

I left mine on a Friday. My co-worker called my house phone from it and offered to come to my house on her way home and drop it off.
I thought that was cool.

I can't imagine that he would go through it. Maybe he just noticed the call coming in on the screen and thought you may need to call her back?

I personally would not go through anyone's phone. I think he was just trying to be nice and tell you that you had a call.

I would not and I'm pretty nosy
This is why one must enter a password to see anything on my BB. It's a pain to type it in everytime, but worth it!

Re: If a coworker of yours left their iphone/blackberry on your desk and left for the day...
don't you need a passcode to get into the iphone? i wouldn't go through anyone's phone. as for your boss knowing who called it was probably just sitting on his desk and the name popped up when they rang and maybe he thought he was doing you a favor by tellin gyou

If I knew who left the phone, absolutely not. But if it was a random phone, yes, but more to figure out if I knew who the owner was.

Re: If a coworker of yours left their iphone/blackberry on your desk and left for the day...
I've been in this situation. I put the phone in the drawer of their desk and made sure they knew where it was.
When I had a Blackberry, you better believe I had it locked with a password.

I would not go thru it. I'd put it in my desk until I could give it back to them, leave a note on their desk that I have the phone.

Re: If a coworker of yours left their iphone/blackberry on your desk and left for the day...
I wouldn't like that!
Although my phone isn't a BB and there aren't any work-related texts or anything that would be "private" so to speak, I still wouldn't feel comfortable with that. My friend left her phone on my desk and it rang I didn't even look at it.

Yikes..glad mine is locked.
But I would probably just call them to let them know I had it and then lock it away for them when they returned.

No. I would never. I would however tell my boss or HR for them to contact the person. They usually have the employees home phone numbers.
