If any of your DC's get sick in the car...
How do you ladies handle it?
I've posted about this before but at this point it's official. I have a motion sickness child. Everytime we are in the car he cries and cries (because he is feeling nausea) and then throws up. I go on car trips prepared with towels in the back seat and plastic bags to put the towels in after he throws up.
I feel so bad for him and it makes me dread car trips. It's not like DH and I are road trip people. I'm talking going out to LI. We have friends and family out there that I always look forward to seeing but at the same time all that I can think about is DS getting sick on the way there and then when we get to where we are all I think about is DS getting sick in the car on the way back. A friend of mine said that he could take dramamine, not the whole tablet but like a 1/4 of it. In other words take a tablet and cut it in 4 halves and then give him one of those pieces. I haven't given him anything yet and never would until I discuss it with his ped first. But it just makes me sad that my little man has to suffer everytime we go in the car. Local trips are fine. Anything over half an hour is not good. That's when he starts getting ansy. Sometimes he'll cry for a while before he throws up. Sometimes it's quick. It's just not fair to him and we have to pull over once or twice sometimes. Honestly car trips are just not fun for us... and I don't know what I can do for him.
I was not a car person when I was a kid so he inherited that from me I guess. I still feel dizzy and naucious in the car but I can control whether I throw up or not. DS is little and can't control his urges.
I just needed to vent about this and see how everyone else who is in my shoes feels about the situation.

My kids haven't gotten car sick yet, but how does your little guy handle subways? Maybe taking the LIRR out would be an alternative? I know it's not perfect.

So far he's fine on the subways. We've only taken him to the city. He actually likes and is distracted enough to not even think about motion sickness.
I would try the LIRR with him but it would be inconvient for us to carry around all his stuff and then we'd have to transfer trains and then take a cab when we get off the LIRR. Maybe when he gets older like around 4ish...
