I don't have a rec but tomorrow and for a few days it will be in the 40s so it will all melt this week. So unless you can get someone out today don't spend the money

Being above freezing is actually the problem. The freezing and melting causes ice to build up.
We have a roof rake and do it ourselves so I have no recommendations - sorry.

We have the tools and tried but it's literally just frozen blocks of ice in the gutter, we can't break it. The inside of our house is leaking badly and I don't know what to do, do we just sit here and let the water rain into our house until it stops? I called so many companies but nobody called back - not surprised, I know it's Sunday but I am pretty desperate.

Once I used hot water from my hose and it worked. I connected the hose to my kitchen sink with a screw on attachment, and used the hot water to melt an ice dam. My husband kept telling me it wouldn't work, but, Surprise! - it did. Just be careful about where the water goes and where it freezes so that your front walk doesn't be come a skating rink.

The people who do this aren't doing anything special. Obviously, they do it for a living but if you have tools...you can do this.
Their is currently a video on weather.com showing a company that removes snow/ice.
Ladder, rake/shovel, blow touch to melt the ice.
