IF DC ever had RSV.....or you know anyone who did..
How has their immune system been after?
DD had it in Feb and she is constantly getting colds..
I heard that the chances of her getting RSV is high again... did anyone have this happen or hear about this?

my dd had rsv when she was 2 months old. she was in the hospital for one week. Knock on wood, she gets a cold here and there, but nothing even close to as bad as rsv. She is 5 years old now.

Re: IF DC ever had RSV.....or you know anyone who did..
DS had RSV last November. He was 4 months old. He was sick a lot last winter (colds and ear infections) but never RSV again.
We already had 1 ear infection this "season" and I did hear that the chance of it reappearing is high. So we wait. And hope for the best.

Re: IF DC ever had RSV.....or you know anyone who did..
Well, I guess I am the example of DS getting sick all the time.
DS got sick last Christmas with a strain of RSV. He was on the nebulizer.
Then he got a cold on and off all winter.
In late May, last day of daycare, he got really sick again. Again with the nebulizer.
He is on the nebulizer everyday now. We have had to see a pediatric pulmonologist.
That being said, I am not sure this is typical.
Because of our medical history, DS is more proned to issues/weaknesses.
He is also not in daycare anymore. But he is the kid that will catch the cold or sickness if in the same room as another kid being sick.

Re: IF DC ever had RSV.....or you know anyone who did..
Caiden got RSV from daycare when he was 10 months old. He spent the night in the hospital. We were sent home with a nebulizer. From that point on whenever he got a cold he would get it really bad in his chest and need the nebulizer. That lasted throughout that winter. During that time, (but it started a month before he got RSV) he had an ear infection, sometimes double one's every single month for 8 months in a row. At that point he needed to get tubes in his ears. So that was done at 16 months old. Ever since then, he never got another ear infection and he never needed the nebulizer again. He'll be 5 yrs old in January and is doing great with no chest/cold issues. He coughs like a regular cold, but no breathing issues. (knock on wood). At one point his pediatrician said he might have asthma, but he doesn't! It varies so much from child to child.

DS had colds and ear infections on and off all last winter (approx. ages 4 mos to 8 mos). He's been in daycare since 13 wks so I think that unfortunately contributed to it. He then had the RSV virus over the summer and so far has gotten one cold, one ear infection and a stomach virus since August.

Re: IF DC ever had RSV.....or you know anyone who did..
My DS had RSV when he was 5 and a half months old. He was hospitalized for about a week and on nebulizer treatments. I insisted on a culture (which they wouldn't do until the third day). The docs tried to dissuade me because it was not the season for RSV (was at the end of June). Prior to that, DS never had breathing issues and never needed nebulizer treatments.
DS did have the risk factors though. He was born prematurely at 35 weeks, was in daycare, and my DH had respiratory issues as a small child. However, he was not eligible for the shot because he was not premature enough (32 weeks or less) , despite his history.
Now, every time DS gets a cold it travels into his lungs. So he usually gets nebulizer treatments when he has a cold. He is on Singulair for the season. The docs have officially diagnosed it as asthma.
I'm not sure which came first, the RSV or a genetic predisposition to asthma (which DH had). DH did grow out of it so I'm hoping for the same for DS. So I'm not sure if RSV actually causes lung conditions or if it was something a child would be susceptible to regardless. I think the research on this is divided as well.

Noah had it at 5 and 1/2 months. He has had only 2 runny noses since ( at 16 months) ..no colds, no coughs , nothing.
