If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

take those first steps on his own?

DS is only 8 months and wants to go. He walks great when you hold his hands and a few times has stood without holding on to anything.

How early is too early for walking? I cant imagine a 9 month old walking already doesnt seem possible.

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

My DD was standing on her own at 6.5 months and walked on her own before 9 months. She is the second child and always wanted to be on the go following her sister. She was an early crawler, etc. and just seemed to follow through with all of her gross motor milestones being met early.

My DD was cruising from 8 months and walked at almost 1 year. I do know a little girl who was walking perfectly at 9 months.

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

My nephew was walking(well actually running) at 8 months. Meanwhile my oldest daughter didn't walk till a little after her 1st birthday and my little one is now 7 months old and just trying to figure out how to do the crawling thing.
Every kids different but sure sounds like he's ready to walk soon.

DD walked on her own at 10 months 6 days (it was a family party) and before 11 months we had to buy her shoes. She didn't crawl until about 13 months and wasn't good at it until 15 months.

Ava crawled at 5 months, cruised at 6 months and was taking steps on her own by 9 months, running by 10 months. Totally possible!

DD was taking steps at 8 1/2 months (was pulling up and crusing at 6 1/2 months). Just do a youtube search and you will see tons of babies under 9 months walking!

There was a girl in Jack's daycare class that was walking quite good on her own (not holding anything) at 9 months. I was shocked because she was so tiny, but she did it.

Hannah walked at 11 months and Jack at 15 months.

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

DD#1 crawled at 6.5 and cruised at 7.5 and walked at 10.5 - but - she was walking with only 1 finger on objects for about 1.5 months before she finally took off. She was also taking 2-4 steps completely on her own for about 2-3 weeks before I considered her to be walking.

DD#2 has crawled 2-3 times across the room so I know she knows how but really doesn't have any interest - she also does some back crawling and army crawling but honestly just isn't interested - she is however VERY interested in pulling to standing and has been cruising for about 2 weeks a little bit at a time (she started at 6.5 and is now 7 months old). I hope she goes back to crawling - I'm not ready for her to be walking anytime soon. Her new thing is she likes you to hold her hands and she walks around the room in circles over and over (great for your backChat Icon ). She would probably do more crawling if she got more floor time - but DD#1 loves to hug her and tries to make her dance with her - so she isn't on the floor as much as I would like her to be.

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

DD was 10 months when she took her first steps & still 10 months when she was basically running around the house. DS will be 9 months next week. He's been cruising for a while & he can stand unsupported for about a minute or so now. I fully expect him to be walking within a month or 2.

I walked at 9 months so it is possible Chat Icon

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

My second baby Eliza's motor skills have always been advanced. The Pediatrician attributes it to her being a second baby.

She started crawling at 6 months and cruising at 7 months old. She took her first steps at 9 months and was full-on walking at 10 months old. She is 14 months old now and has started actually running.

Her older sister didn't pull to stand until almost 10 months old. Her first steps weren't until she was 14 months old.

Re: If DC was an early walker....how early did he actually...

God bless your heart if your DC walks at 9 months! My DD is just under 14.5 months and just started really walking around the house within the last few weeks. I couldn't imagine at 9 months! If he is ready to go, let him go! Your house will be alot more messy, but it's been heaven to say ' Come on Gianna, lets go in your room' when i'm carrying laundry and she just follws me in! Enjoy it! I think thats great!

DS started walking at 10 1/2 months. just 2 or 3 steps. he can now go form one side of the living room to the other about 6 or 7 steps. He'll be 1 in 9 days.
