if you have the commitment then it should be a matter of days depending on everyone's schedules/availability and when the seller wants to be out.

Probably two weeks total. Maybe three.
Lawyers are very busy folk... and its extremely difficult to try to get all the parties to agree on a single date/time.
My co-worker waited over three weeks to get his closing date and still hasn't closed yet. But he is closing on Wednesday looks like.

oh great... do you think it would be wise to call our mortgage broker to contact the bank attorney and see if they could speed it up a little?
and yeah...everyone has to be available the same day!!
We might have to live out of our cars for a little while, huh!

Yeah... you can try that and see what they say. Tell them your lease is up and there is already another party set to take over the apartment.
Does your seller owe money on his property? If so... thats one more lawyer/party that needs to be scheduled in (lien's bank attorney). That adds to the time.

If the seller has a mortgage or a HELOC on the property... then the seller's bank will have to be present at closing. That adds another party to have to schedule and can make the process longer to set up.
But thats not something you can really ask cause its none of your business. Just tell them you have to be out of your apartment asap and to please speed the process.
