If my son has already had the chickenpox
Could I take him around to play with my friends daughter who has just started with the pox??
I want to help her to alleviate the boredom, but only if its safe to take him around this weekend.

I had gotten chicken pox at 6m old and so when all the other kids got them later on my mother would send me to there house to play with them. That was 20-30 yrs ago, so not sure if times changed, but i would think if he had then its okay for him to go and play.

I think if he had a light case of it he can get it again. My cousin got it from his kids as an adult b/c he'd had a slight case when he was young.

I actually had them twice - once at about 7 and then again at 12 - and bad cases both times. I would think that he wouldn't be able to get them this soon again. The doctors told me that 1 in 10,000 gets them twice.

You can get it more than once.
ETA. He can also get shingles. Same family.

I had a bad case when I was in first grade. Then I got a horrific case of the same virus my senior year in high school. That one hospitalized me. My brother got them twice too, same times I did.

I think you're fine! A doctor once told me that ANY case that you had means you are immune. I think he would be fine to go and play! A quick call to your doc can't hurt though.

That's not true. I had them twice. The first time wasn't too bad. The second time was awful. I had to be sent home from camp.

I'm living proof you can get it twice.  I was reallly annoyed. When the girl was diagnosed with chicken pox I figured I would be fine since I already had it. Wrong. It was abig mess. I was quarantined and my parents had to come up to get me. Although I read about 3 Lois Duncan books that day.
