I didn't think you can be claimed on someone's taxes and still file on your own?

Yeah, isn't that like double dipping?

Re: If SO claimed Me on his taxes, will I still get a Stimulus Check?
my Dad did this to my sister once a few years ago and it screwed her
he claimed her- took the deduction
so then she had to PAY - instead of getting a refund
there is no double dipping with the IRS- my sister couldn't claim anything

No it's not because doing that simply lowers his tax burden and raises hers. You claim somebody when you are supporting them usually.

if someone claims u as a dependent on their tax return, the dependent is still allowed to (and must) file a tax return for income which they received, except that the dependent can no longer claim a deduction for themselves.

Not sure if you ever found out your answer but...dependents age 17 and over do not qualify for the additional rebate and dependents of any age do not qualify for the rebate in their own name even if they earn their own income. Sorry.
