If someone asks if your pregnant

do you tell them?

I don't like to lie.

A co-worker of mine has asked me and I told him but this person would have been one of the last people I would have told.

When it wa searly, before I wa stelling people, I would laugh it off and change the subject. Not lie, just laugh.

I say "We're working on it." I hate lying too, but I just think it's way too early (7 weeks) for me to be telling co-workers. Besides, it's so rude of people to even ask that, so it makes it easier for the fib.

eta: everyone knows we're trying - we made no secret of that, so the "we're working on it" comment makes sense

depends on who it was and how the question was asked. If I was prepared for the question, and it wasn't family or close, close friends, I would lie, but one of my closest friends asked bc I wasn't drinking at dinner and the way she did it took me by such shock that I told the truth.

Well my coworkers found out I was pregnant at 5 1/2 weeks because one of them was questioning why I had to go to the doctor twice in one week and it took me by surprise so I told her....well then of course it spread all over the office. I was worried because it was so early, but it worked out ok.

First, it was kinda rude for the coworker to ask if you were pregnant if you haven't told anyone. What if you weren't?

If I was at an early stage and if someone were to ask me, I would probably respond with another question, like: "Are you saying I look fat?" Then change the subject...

I just wanted to add...maybe he saw you 'glowing'. My husband said it to me before we even knew about our BFP.

In the beginning I made sure to tell everyone "thank-you for noticing how much weight I've put on since I quit smoking" - shut them right up!!

Now I'm 30w and there is no reason to hide, but early on there were lots of reasons to keep it quiet.

we told everyone we knew right away, so if someone asked i just admitted it.

I couldn't lie... my mind runs away with me and if I actually said no to anyone and anything happened I'd blame myself. I yelled at DH for telling someone that I wasn't pregnant, even though I was only about 6 weeks at the time and we weren't telling yet.

I had one girl ask me before I was ready to tell - and this was all because of something I said, not because she really suspected anything - and I just laughed and didn't answer the question. After I told my bosses, I was more forthcoming when people asked.

j/k In all seriousness, that was pretty rude of your co-worker, but some people are just not as smooth as others. No one really asked me before we started telling people on our own, but if they did, I would probably admit to it and say “we are not ready to tell people” so they know to keep it to themselves.

One of my co-workers was spreading rumors about me because I didn't drink at a wedding. A close friend asked me if it was true, I told her yes, but she went back to the rumor mill and told them that I was not. Not much rumors now. I am about 10 weeks and starting to show. I think I will tell them next week after my dr appt.

No one has asked me yet (actually, the only one that knows at my office is the CFO and he asked if others have said anything yet b/c I had a flowy shirt on today). I've had friends trying to figure me out before I wanted to share - I just casually changed the subject. If someone asked before I was ready to tell, I'd just say, "why, do I look fat?" That should quiet them down.

My students were asking me at the end of the school year last year when I was still not telling anyone. I just told them:

"No I'm just fat."

That shut them up quickly!
