If they estimate your due date by LMP but your cycles are longer than 28 days, wont it be off??
Im just wondering because they never asked me how long my cycles are and just figured my due date out based on my LMP....but my cycles were always 31-32 days long....woudnt that push my due date back? I know the baby can come 2 weeks before or after anyway, but since its getting close these little details are becoming more important to me

My cycles were all over the place, but I knew exactly what day I concieved, we only bd'd once the week I got my + opk. I counted from that date and my due date is perfect.
If you know around when you ovulated, count 38 weeks from then...might make you feel better

Yes, it will be off. Thats why they change it based on the measurement of the baby.

with my 1st i had regular cycles so they just went by my LMP, but after having my DS my cycles were all over the place so i had a sonogram at around 9 weeks to date the pregnancy this time around. it ended up only being off by a day anyway.

Oh, so if they didnt give me a due date until after my 1st sonogram then the date is accurate? It turns out to be the same as my a due date by my LMP and they have never mentioned a change in due date and I have had alot of sonograms due to pre-term labor.

I had long irregular cycles, too- my LMP due date is the same as my measurement due date.

If they went by my LMP I would be due on new year's eve but in reality i conceived later and i am due on Jan 7.... so, yes, it would be off.

I always had irregular cycles - 32-35 days. My EDD was 10/14. During my pregnancy I always measured a week ahead, bringing it to 10/7....Wel, DD was born a week later than my EDD on 10.21...Go figure!!

I never really know about this stuff, but I do remember my mom telling me that she has 31 day cycles and was exactly 12 days "late" with both my sister and I (remember, no sono measurements then, just dates to go by) so it makes sense to me.

Re: If they estimate your due date by LMP but your cycles are longer than 28 days, wont it be off??
When I originally went to the dr they went by my LMP, which gave me a due date of Jan 24th, but my cycles were short, so when we got the 1st sono they said the due date was actually Jan 20th based on measurements so my doc changed it to that. I would think if they just go by LMP it would be off a couple of days if you do not have an exact 28 day cycle.
