if tomorrow is anything like today, hes getting his paci back!
He is a NIGHTMARE without it bc he isnt napping AT ALL, hasnt in a week, isnt falling asleep until like 10:30-11:30 but then is up at 6. He wouldnt nap AGAIN today, day 6 of that, and by 12:30 was in RARE form and literally spent the next 6 hours having tantrum after tantrum after tantrum, being outright fresh and HYSTERICALLY crying (this like half scream bloody murder/hlaf cry thing he does) over the LITTLEST thing. Hes def not ready to give up naps yet but he is refusing to nap without the paci. I dont know what to do anymore. Im LOSING my mind. Im not kidding, if tomorrow is like today Im done and he can have the paci back until hes 45.
ETA - DS had DH and I so stressed and frazzled today that we spent the day snipping at each other bc of it. We are all at our wits end over here.

Sorry you're going through this! I'm nowhere near that stage yet, but I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same way you do. They can hang it around their necks during Pomp & Circumstance as they graduate from college if it will just get them to nap TODAY!

Here is my two cents if you want it! I don't stress over things like the paci. I would give it back to him. Your sanity is very important! You can always try again when the time is right for both of you.
I have a friend whose daughter is 3.3 yrs old and still has a paci. She knows that she can only use it for sleeping, that is it...mom had a long talk with her and really prepared her for getting ready to give it up. Nonetheless, she really wasn't ready to give it up, but they compromised.

Ill take all the two cents I can get after today, LOL. Thanks so much for the advice. This may be what I end up doing before we all lose our minds.

Give it back, he won't go to college with it
(And my DS is 2.5 and still has his, we are in NO rush to get rid of it!)
ETA-It sounds lke your DS is like mine, no speech issues, etc, so IMO, there is no reason to give it up!

Re: if tomorrow is anything like today, hes getting his paci back!
have you tried cutting them?
I have no advice because i'm not looking forward to this day. But i know a lot of people cut the tips and then their dc loses interest.

Re: if tomorrow is anything like today, hes getting his paci back!
Here is my two sense...he won't go to Kindergarten with the Paci, and if it's causing so much stress, give in and give it to him only at naptime. He needs sleep as much as you and Ed do. I don't think it's worth the fight. Bradley still has him (usually only when he's tired/cranky).
I wish you luck but like I said, give in and let him sleep!!!!
Love you!!!

Hey listen, I am all about the paci. I have a child who is just that much more content having one. So if its not working, then maybe he is just not ready and you can try again in a few months.

I agree with Karen! He isn't going to go to Kindergarten with it and you need your sanity. I'd give it to him for naps and bedtime and eventually he will grow out of it!!
