if u have 2 kids in carseats and 2 cars...

do you have carseats in both cars? we will be getting a minivan but i'm wondering if it makes sense to have carseats in the civic too.
thoughts?

We wont be no...Although I think we might get an extra convertible seat for Noah since he will be going one on one out with other people and the babies likely wont. But for the most part all 3 car seats will be in the mini van ....Then if we need an extra for him we will have it.

Yes, we do. I leave for work later than my dh and come home earlier, but we do use his car as much as mine on the weekends, etc. For us, it is easier to have 4 so we don't have to move them.

Yes. We have Britax Marathon seats in the minivan and Alpha Omegas in DH's car. The Alpha converts from a convertible car seat (up to 50lbs) into a booster seat (40-100lbs) and Consumer Reports rated them highly for safety, so I though they made a good backup seat.

Yes, we do.....but DH and I have different work schedules so he drives the kids to school/babysitter and I pick them up.

For our 2 year old we each have a carseat for her. For the baby - just a base in each car

We have 2 Britax Marathons in my car and just 1 in DH's car. Whoever has both kids uses my car. If we each have one, the baby goes in my car, with whoever has him.

We do because DH would drop off at daycare and I'd pick up. Now I do both, so it's really not necessary but who knew things would change!

We had 2 in each car & a booster in a 3rd car. Now we are done to zero!

I guess it would depend on who has them & what the schedules are. I dropped off at daycare & DH picked up so we both needed them. I suppose we could have switched cars at the train station but it seems a bit crazy then.

If I was a SAHM, I probably would have opted for 2 car seats in my car only & if we went somewhere, we'd take my car or switch them. On a daily basis, it wasn't workable for us.

We have 2 seats of car seats. One set for mine, and one for my Mom's car.

If DH needs to drive the kids, I will take his car and he will take mine.

We have 2 carseats in the mini van and 1 in the other car. This way if DH or I are just taking 1 child out the other person isn't left not being able to go out with the other child.

Yes we do. Well, right now we have 2 convertible carseats & 2 Snugride bases. When DS reaches the weight limit he'll take the convertibles & we'll be getting 2 new boosters for DD as she's now the size for a booster.

we have car seats for both cars. Its just easier than having to switch them.

We have two car seats in both vehicles. The car is the main vehicle, but I take DS to karate in the truck on Saturdays. There was one time I had to run to the school to pick up DS because DW was out with DD. If I didn't have seats in my truck, I would be stuck. If DW takes the car in for servicing, and they find something so it needs to stay overnight, I can pick them up in the truck.

I've found many instances where I was definitely glad I had seats in both vehicles.

I don't, but I would buy a less expensive seat and put it in the second car.

Convertible seats aren't really made to be switched out, I mean, your DH can always take your car if he has to, but I would probably just invest in two Comfortsports or Cosco Scenras or something for the second car

No we don't. When I only had 1 I had a carseat in both cars but I can probably count on 1 hand the number of times the carseat in the 2nd car was used. So now I don't plan to have 2 seats in both cars. DH and I usually plan our day/trips based on who will have the kids and that person uses the car with the carseats.
