If you are doing IVF and didn't tell your work...
What reason did you give for being out during retrieval and transfer? I'm able to work from home when I need to so I want to request to do so in the 5 days between the two procedures (this is my 2nd go and I know from the first time I was in a lot of discomfort for those few days). I know the approximate dates at this point and given my hectic work schedule it's best to put in for the time now. But...work doesn't know and I don't want to tell them. The first time I just called in last min and said I was sick for the week (which was true!) but I think it'll be suspicious if I do the same this time. Any ideas? TIA

I'm not doing ivf but I would just take those days as sick/personal. If I'm going to a doctor, I have sick days in the back for all those.
I would just say I have personal business those days. You don't have to give details even if you wanted to tell them your time off is for a medical appt.

Thank you! I'm trying to avoid sick/personal days because I have the ability to work from home so as long as I have a 'reason' I can't come to the office it's totally fine to work remotely. I'm just not sure what to say about why I need to. I guess I could just say I'm having a medical procedure done and leave it at that.

I would just take a sick day for retrieval and transfer. I did not tell them I was doing IVF.

Exactly. When I had my polyp removed, I just told my boss that I would be for 3 days for a minor medical procedure. No questions asked.

I took ER day as an entire sick day, and ET day as a half day sick day. ET was at 3pm so I left the office at 2.

Re: If you are doing IVF and didn't tell your work...
For retrieval I took a vacation day. My transfer was on Saturday.
I would just take my own time or call in sick. Good luck

Re: If you are doing IVF and didn't tell your work...
So you were more uncomfortable after the retrieval than you were for the transfer???? If so I would take the time and work from home. Maybe say you have a personal emergency. As far ask know, your company can't require you to tell them. After my first retrieval I was ok to work, however was in so much pain from the OHSS after the transfer that I was out of work for 5days. This time around I triggered with Lupron instead of HCG so I felt ok and was only out for the retrieval. My transfer was on a Saturday so I didn't need to take off.

Re: If you are doing IVF and didn't tell your work...
Last time I also triggered with Lupron and was on cabergoline but was still very very uncomfortable. At this point I have said I need to be out for medical reasons and no questions were asked so all good. Thanks for the input ladies!
