If you are doing the LI half-marathon in May...
can you tell me where you are in your training schedule? specifically with long runs. I did my first 6 mile today and I just have to figure out what milage to do over the next few weeks with vacations, etc.

Re: If you are doing the LI half-marathon in May...
I am not training for this marathon but I have trained in the past. On weekends I used to run on the Bethpage/Massapequa bicycle path. It's right off of Sunrise Hwy by the train station. I never went during the week though b/c it is very secluded. On the weekends, there are lots of people around. Anyway....out and back on the path is 13-14 miles.

I'm not on LI, however you can use this tool to map out runs in your neighborhood.
mapmyrun.com
I use this every weekend...this past weekend I just did 13 miles using this tool!

Re: If you are doing the LI half-marathon in May...
thanks
lol - I used google maps to map out my route. I was just thinking that I am behind schedule. I am emailing with a girl featured in Runner's World and her half is after the LI and she is doing 8 and 10 miles this week. I am only at 7 miles. So I think I am way behind (I only started 4 weeks ago or so.)
ETA: I realize my first post was not what I wanted to ask. I meant "where" in the training schedule people are...LOL...not specifically where to run. 'doh

Re: If you are doing the LI half-marathon in May...
It's 6 weeks away. My training schedule only takes me to 10 miles. I'm OK with that, if that is semi-typical, since I have done half-marathons with absolutely no training (I didn't do it well and was incredibly sore, but did it) This time I am trying to beat 2 hours.

You seem to be on track. What program are you using? I am running a half next weekend and ran up to 12.
Good Luck!

I'm using my own combination of Hal Higdon's novice and intermediate. (the intermediate goes up to 12 miles, but I went by the novice long runs since this is my first half since DS#2.

Re: If you are doing the LI half-marathon in May...
not sure if you have seen, but runners world has a virtual coach on their home page. It lets you put in your last race, how many miles you run a week, how hard you want to train...it's pretty cool, but since I don't have a good current 10K (my last was 12 weeks after birth and not so great), it gave me a very slow pace to train at, but I'm sure I can just use what I have deemed as my easy pace.
good luck next weekend! where is it?

That is very cool...I will check it out. I am running the ING Atlanta and NYC marathon again this fall.
