if you are in law enforcement
but are NOT a police officer
have you ever gotten out of getting a ticket after being pulled over?
my sister has gotten out of getting a ticket three times just by telling the cop who i was/what i did... i am a good driver and i haven't gotten pulled over in a long time (knock on wood!!) so i haven't had a chance to "test" this - so i am curious.

Re: if you are in law enforcement
My hubby's an Auxilary PO for the NYPD - he got pulled over two weeks ago for speeding, and it was a PO from his precient - he didn't get the ticket. However, I'm not sure if it's b/c they're from the same precient or not.
ETS: Also, a few of our friends are Corrections Officers for NYC & NYS, and PAPD - we've been pulled over before and received warnings, but never a ticket.

Re: if you are in law enforcement
That makes me so angry...when you see people in law enforcement being "above the law", speeding, driving recklessly, putting on their sirens to go through a red light and then turning them right off....drives me nuts

I'm sure it doesn't apply to me, but my hubby was driving 9 miles over the speed limit (keeping up with traffic.)
Just b/c someone gets pulled over doesn't meant that they're driving recklessly.
However - I agree w/the statement made about the officers who put their sirens/lights on just to go through a light...that's complete BS.

Yeah, 9 miles over does not warrant a ticket for anyone, IMHO

um, not what i was referring to, but ok. i drive normally, which for just about EVERYONE on long island, means above the speed limit. this also might mean not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, or speeding up a little bit to go thru a yellow light.
and for the record, i don't have lights or sirens in my car. who does, other than a cop or a VF?

um, I was merely replying to the idea that cops or people in "law enforcement" are able to, or try to talk their way out of tickets, that's all
no need to get worked up

sorry i am just sensitive
i think i would feel the same way if i wasn't in law enforcement BUT i just want to say that i do not - and would never - abuse my position, AT ALL. (and if i tried to, i think the cop would laugh in my face!)

No problem, I was not trying to say that YOU personally have abused your power. Sorry if it sounded like that
