23 hours and NO stopping...ahhh. DH and I just took turns. Also, we left at 6 pm so DD would be sleeping for most of the trip. It worked out well

On average 20 hours. We go at least once a year, sometimes more.
We leave at 5 pm, stop in Jersey for dinner. After dinner, kids fall asleep and we take 5-7 hour shifts. When the kids wake up, we're in Florida, stop for breakfast/bathroom/diaper change and we finish the last few hours.
Easiest drive.

We took DS when he was 4.5 months old and we took our time going down. Took 2 nights. First overnight we stayed in NC somewhere. Second night we stopped in Georgia. We usually take one over night for the ride down. (Pre-baby) Too long and tiring to do it in one day.. Tried it and we were miserable for 3 days... We are going down in November and plan on doing one overnight somewhere in SC...

18 hours stopping only for gas and bathroom breaks and quick food....we did this when the trio was 14 months old and they did great in the car. We will be doing it again in Oct and they will be 27 months old.

We did it straight through. Took about 20 hours only stopped to eat and for bathroom breaks.

We used to do this when I was a kid (through my teen years) with my family.
We would drive early in the AM (6AM) & go till the early afternoon. We would stop often. It would take a few days (about 3) to drive down... but we would go for 2 weeks!
Good places to stop are:
Virginia Beach & Williamsburg
Myrtle Beach

Ironically I am exactly the same distance from home to WDW as I was when I was in Long Island
18 hrs 4 mins / 1171.65 miles
go figure.
We plan on driving up during Oct.

my family did it every year......
They'd aim to stop in South Carolina the first night.
When dh and I drove we vary from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia.
On the way back - North Carolina if not Virginia.

We too are making the drive to Disney from NY. We are going in November after Thanksgiving. All of this has been useful information! Greatly appreciated! I'm anxious about driving and the hubs and i weren't sure when the best time was for us to leave. Looks like late afternoon. Thanks!!
