I get it done at the Cleaners. Try to find a good Cleaners with a professional Tailor or Seanstress.

I did it with 1 pair and I wouldn't do it again. thankfully, the hemming was on a pair of jeans that I am not in love with. IMO, it doesn't ever look the same.... especially if the jeans are a mixed wash.

ETA: to answer your Q (duh! lol), I got it done at my dry cleaners.

they did a good job, but I like the look from the factory better.

Re: If you get your jeans hemmed..

My place will re-attach the same bottom for an extra $2. Def. worth it!!

I do all my tailoring at the tailor attached to my dry cleaners.

Re: If you get your jeans hemmed..

dry cleaners or tailor-

make sure you tell them to cut the bottom off, hem the pant, then re-attach the bottom (so that worn looking bottom is still retained)

also get them a little longer than you want, beccause afteer they are washed, they shrink

Yes! I get mine done like that all the time. A good seamstress will know how to do this with no problemo.

Good luck!

I never had this done before, so I have a really stupid question.

If they are bootcut/flare at all, don't you lose that widening at the bottom?

i did it on a pair of bootcuts... I only needed them hemmed about 1 inch, so that wasn't an issue for me
