If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
This may be my next place to get an option.
Thanks Girls

Re: If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
I recall researching places on this very site and Cornell was recommended, so I googled some articles and found it had an excellent reputation for IF. I wanted somewhere in NYC since I worked there and knew I would need to go there daily for awhile. I could not give a more positive recommendation for the facility. It is so professional and organized and the doctors are just amazing. I tried getting PG for 18 months unsuccessfully, had my first appointment in December, was diagnosed with some issues in January, had surgery 2 weeks later, and got pregnant in February. I realize these results may not be typical. But if I have any trouble TTC #2 I am headed straight back there.

I don't go to Cornell....but I have always thought Cornell = top of the line. I don't know why. I go to NSUH now. If ever I come across problems with them in the future I would go to Cornell for sure. It was all about convenience for me, and I don't know how smart that is. Perhaps research is more important.

Re: If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
I went there because of a bunch of reasons:
1) I knew a lot of people who had success there
2) Its #2 in the country, with a fantastic lab
3) they are the pioneers in the industry. They invented ICSI and Dr. Rosenwaks was the first RE in the US to perform IVF.
4) I have high FSH and respond poorly to the meds, plus my age is a factor (40) and I knew Dr. Davis would work with me from reading around the internet.
5) I had 2 failed IVF's at another place and they offer co-culture and I thought it would help me. Which is did, even though my 3rd failed, my embryo never looked so good and its b/c of the co-culture.
Even though I did not get the results I wanted i would highly recommend them. And they are the 3rd RE I have been with.
Good luck, I think its worth a consult and if you have UHC or Oxford, I hear they are taking that insurance now.

Totally Agree with what Beth-Ann said above. I switched to Cornell in Sept, am starting IVF there in January and could not be happier with them.

What is #1? Just wondering..
Also, does anyone know if Cornell has any sites in NJ?
DH and I were discussing this if our next cycles dont work at RMA.

Re: If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
They are the best clinic for MF (especially severe) in the world...they still have Dr Palermo (who invented ICSI) working in their labs together with their top urologists (who are the best in the world) & RE's...
Dr Schlegel (urologist) who developed microTESE gives hope to those men that have bad or minimal sperm production or even zero sperm....
We went to RMA of NY and Columbia before going to Cornell and were told to adopt and to forget about having a biological child together..went to Cornell and I am now 34 weeks pregnant (originally with twins)...
They are my heroes!!!

Re: If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
My 41 year old cousin had success there. She saw Goldschlag. Loved him. I am seeing Dr. Davis. We will probably do IVF in November. I read up on Cornell and all things pointed there. Now they take my insurance so it's a no brainer.
They have a monitoring office in Garden City. I plan on going there for early am monitoring and then jumping on a train and heading to work. Cornell is not near my office in the city but I would go there if I had to.
I also see a few other docs at Cornell. I've been to many doctors and hospitals unfortunately, and I see a major difference with Cornell. Not just their IF but gastro, oncology and neurology. They are also affiliated with Sloan Kettering somehow.
If I knew there was a better place for me to go, I would go there.
North Shore turned me down for IVF based on my FSH numbers. They don't have the expertise to work with high fshers.

I live near Westhampton. And work out of my house. They have a Garden City office that you are in and out in 10 minutes. On weekends you have to go to NYC. But, really its only for 2 weeks and only 1 week where it is intense everyday office visits. You can do it if you want to go there.
I take the Hampton Jitney in (its expensive) but it made my life easier. Or during the week I drive (honestly I wanted to buy a hybrid car so i could use the HOV lane to get there quicker....LOL).

Re: If you go to Cornell...why did you choose to get treatment there?
I always said I wish Cornell accepted my insurance so I could go there. They are #2 in the country. Well, now they take my insurance so, even though I am currently taking BCP's for my next cycle at LI-IVF, I have a consult at Cornell. I mean, like with anything, if the best is available, wouldn't you at least look into it???
It will be difficult, if I decide to cycle there, because I live and work on LI. Difficult but not impossible. One of the doctor's does consults in Queens 1 day a week so I have my consult with him. Then, cycle 3 day bloods will be in the city so I'll take a day off for that and the retrieval and transfer will be in the city so I'll take days off for that. 3 days off. Weekday monitoring is in Garden City and the weekends, if I need to go, I'll just go. It will be worth it.

I go to Cornell based on reputation. I've always heard they are the best. I pay out of pocket so I figured I might as well get the most for my $. I switched from Columbia.
