I am having such a problem with our painter that i told DH to fire him today. We hired him to paint three rooms and I think my 2 year old could have done a better job......we are on day 7 now and so much still needs to be fixed......i feel that he is not capable of correcting these things and at this point I feel ike he is wasting my time and his. We just spent close to $6,000 on new moldings and they have paint drips on them, brush marks, and some spots aren't even painted. My walls are a totally different story....nothing looks sanded and there is paint from the moldings on the walls and paint from the walls on the moldings....i am so fed up....plus yesterday I noticed that my new wood floor in the den was scratched from when he moved the TV and there is also paint on it. I refuse to pay him a dollar.....he was already given $400 for supplies but I'm not paying him for a crappy job that is not even finished......So what now? has anyone been in a similar situation? i plan to take pics when I get home of all the unfinished spots.......which is many. I started making a list yestersay of the thinds i wan't happy with and I already got to 3 pages on just room.Chat Icon

Oh boy, I say when he comes back go over everything you see wrong, explain it and tell him you want that corrected today, see his response. then go over it at the end of his day, if not satified then tell him you dont want him to complete the job and hes fired- however be careful I do think he can sue you in small claims court b/c YOU terminated the job early, Im not sure you would need a lawyer on this one and or if he cant afford that and you messed with his lively hood is he crazy? would he come back and do damage to your home worth the amount you owe and you wouldnt know but be suspicious it was him?
I think you just need to be firm point out the scratches and paint that he has to fix now too and tell him that before he continues with anything else you want what is done corrected and picture perfect before you continue to pay another cent. Tell him you are NOT happy. good luck and keep us posted.

is he licensed? Does he have insurance?

Document everything and take lots of pictures. If you have befores, gather them up as well.

Get another painter in and get an estimate to fix everything when the other painter is not there. Get another opinion.

Good luck.
