did you go back to find a fetus? Or nothing? If nothing, did your body just dissintigrate the sac, or expunge it, or did your doc have to do something to get rid of it? Thanks

at 7 weeks my lab work came back staying my HCG went from 4,000-4,500 and the sono showed NOTHING in my uterus...I scheduled a D&C for 2 days later....Dr. thought something was up since the week before there was a sac and heartbeat and now there was nothing...

they retook my blood and it went from 4,000-9,400 and they did a repeat sono with a TVS and US and when they push down on my uterus very hard my enitre uterus flipped and there was the baby :) sac, hb and all...

it was truly a miracle...

in the event your friend did miscarry (which Im so sorry if she did), I believe at 7 weeks her body will reabsorb as much as it could and then she would eventually get a heavy bleeding as her body rids the rest...once her HCG levels go down ...

she could always opt for a D&C but I wouldnt at the risk of developing scar tissue which can complicate things for her next pregnancy.

Re: If you had a sono w/ just a yolk sac when you thought you were 7 weeks...

I had to go for a follow up u/s and bloodwork. When I returned 1 week later (putting me at 8 weeks), the yolk sac was enlarged, but still no fetal pole. I was told it was not viable, and since it was a recurrent miscarriage (I had had 2 natural ones), my RE recommended I have a D&C so they could do a chromosomal assessment of the fetal tissue.

I was told that I could have just miscarried naturally (as I had done with the 2 previous), it was just because of the reccurent miscarriages that he steered me towards the D&C.

I hope your friend's story turns out with a happy ending for her.
