Re: if you had or went to a destination wedding....
We had a mini destination in Connecticut, and it was absolutely amazing. We were there from Wednesday through Sunday, and we had a whole series of events.
In particular, we had a hospitality hour (time between church and reception), after party, and morning after brunch all in a party room at our hotel. It was awesome because all of our family and friends were staying at either that hotel or one nearby, we had the whole hotel and the party room to ourselves, and it was just a conglomerate of 200+ people together for a whole weekend.

My brother got married at the Southernmost House down in Key West, Florida. It is the Southernmost residential house in all of the US. The ceremony was down by the water and the reception was around the pool. It was beautiful!!!

My personal opinion is that I would never go to someone's five years later destination wedding. I think destination weddings in general can be tough- I've said no to all but one for a verrry good friend with a family I love and know I'll have a great time with- but even then it's still a burden financially and otherwise (kids, jobs, etc.). I've often heard people say "the people that really matter to you will be there no matter what" and tbh I don't agree with it as a justifying notion bc for people in your immediate circle you are twisting their arms and for the less immediate circle it doesn't mean they don't really matter just bc it's difficult to swing your vacation. If you have a group of people that want to go on vacation together and you suggest you have a vow renewal party during your stay, I think that's different. I've only known a few people that did their wedding receptions later in time for whatever reason and they were in restaurants etc (like downplayed, kwim?) And IMO you're going to the other extreme- unless it's just buddies going away like I mentioned.
I agree with this.
