If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
Do you dress them alike or matching??
My boys are a little over 27 months apart and the moment I found out that #2 was a boy I knew I wanted to have them in matching clothes. So pretty much 80% of their outfits are the same. I love it but so many people tell me how annoying it is and I just dont get why. Does any one else get comments like this or is it just my obnoxious family??

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I have 2 girls who are 3 years apart and I never dress them in matching clothes. I think they have 1 shirt that's the same. Sometimes I do coordinating outfits for pictures but that's it. I think it's cute when people do for pictures or events but it's not my style to dress alike for everyday. Although if I did and my family made comments I would be very hurt. Your kids - as long as they are dressed, why do they care what they are dressed in?!

I have two boys and never thought I would dress them the same, but I do! Certainly not every day, but sometimes for holidays or pictures I will.

I don't dress my girls the same, they dont have any identical outfits. But I do tend to coordinate them.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I have 2 girls and only dress them alike for holidays.
Not because I don't like it but because DD 2 is wearing all of DD1 clothing. It would be a pain to go out now and fine matching outfits lol

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I have 2 boys. They got a couple matching outfits as gifts, which they've worn and I bought them matching shirts for St. Patrick's Day. But it's not really my style to do it every day. But if that's your thing then, who cares? Like a PP said, as long as they're dressed, why does anyone else care?

I have two girls. I tend to dress them in coordinating outfits a lot. They have a few matching outfits, I'll occasionally put them in. For the most part, my 2 nd wears her sisters old stuff and my older one wears stuff I find on sale.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I see nothing wrong with it, it sounds cute! I only have 1 DD but if I have a second I would dress them matching from time to time for sure. I don't think I would do it everyday, mainly becuase it would be too much work. DD is lucky if she has matching socks on as it is, haha. Tell your family to dress their kids how they want and you'll do the same, thank you very much!

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
My girls are 14 months apart and they have only ever dressed the same twice in the last 4 years. My cousin and I are 2 months apart and our moms dressed us the same all the time. We hated it. So I won't do it to my girls.

I am one of those people who doesn't like matching outfits. I have 2 boys and i won't do it.
I guess the reason why is that i have twin brothers. My mom would match them and when looking back at pictures... they both hated it!!!! They have their own identities and they're not the same person so they hated being dressed alike.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
No, I don't really dress them in the same outfits. Every once in a while someone will give me something in both girls sizes and then I will use it. I have only bought a shirt or two that are the same only because both girls requested them when we were out and asked to have the same shirt. Otherwise, I try not to put them in the same thing. I don't mind though if someone gives me 2 nice dresses that are the same (my aunt thinks it is cute and buys them gorgeous dresses so I would never mind) but I guess I don't go out of my way to buy the same thing.
Etd to add while I like having them in different things - I will say that my girls actually often ask to wear the same outfit which is why when I get gifts that are the same I don't mind.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I have 2 boys, 17 months apart. When they were really little I dressed them alike for holidays, and when they were about 4 and 5 I started doing coordinating outfits. People always commented on how cute they looked dressed in matching outfits and they never minded.
Now they have a lot of the same team shirts and jerseys and sometimes they choose to wear them on the same day (especially if that team is playing that day) and sometimes they don't. Actually, I doubt they even notice if they have the same shirt on!

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I did it more in the beginning but now I mostly leave the matching stuff to PJs and the occasional outfit. My 4.5 year old actually LOVES matching but I try not to do it too much. I do like to coordinate though with different pieces from the same collections.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
My girls will be 21 months apart and I've gotten them a lot of matching outfits. It won't be an everyday thing but I got them a lot of matching dresses and short sets. I can't wait to dress them alike. I'm sure they won't let me do it for long so while I can I'm going to do it sometimes. I think its cute.

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
My girls are exactly 3 years apart. I do like matching them on some things (PJs sometimes, jackets, etc) esp. if the item is really cute.
However, my almost-5-year old (the oldest) LOVES for her sister to match her. Loves it. Makes her so happy. SHE begs me to buy them matching outfits. She thinks it's "so cute". So on special occasions/holidays, 9 times out of 10 she wants her sister to match her.
I had a dress for her for their upcoming b-day party. But she wants to match her little sister...so I had to buy new dresses
I'm sure it's a stage, and I still think it's cute!

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I never thought I would dress them matching! Thought it was silly. But now that I have 2 boys I do!
DS1 gets the choice though. For example, yesterday we were going to a party. I knew what DS2 was wearing. So I asked DS1 what he wanted giving him a choice of 3 shirts (pants were going to match either way) and he asked "whats my brother wearing" when I showed him he said he wanted to match.
He did this for easter, Christmas, he likes when they have matching pjs etc!
My SIL actually asked me yesterday if I just took them for pictures bc they were matching!

Same here, DS1 is 4 and DS2 is 1! I find it adorable that he wants to match his brother!

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
We do have alot of matching and some coordinating outfits. But even if they are matching, its usually not for long since one gets something on them and needs new clothes anyways because they're both neat freaks!!

Re: If you have 2 children of the same sex .... Re: clothing
I have 2 girls and they are 2.5 years apart. They pretty much pick out their own outfits for the day so they never usually match. I do have a few similar outfits for them but it would have to be a coincidence for them to choose them on the same day.

I had the same thing growing up. Plus I always had to wear my sisters hand me downs so i would be wearing the damn outfits for years if my mom bought them big for us to grow into. Especially when I hated the outfit to begin with.
