If you have 2 kids of the same gender, do you buy doubles of everything?
2yo isn't having wearing only hand me downs. If I buy 4yo DS new pajamas or t shirts, 2yo DS gets upset when he doesn't have the same thing. I have been buying doubles of everything lately even though we have tons of 2T and 3T clothing that my 2yo can fit into.
I recently bought Iron Man pajamas for 4yo DS and it didn't come in 2T. 2yo DS gets super upset anytime 4yo DS wears his Iron Man pajamas.

It depends - I feel bad for my little guy to wear ONLY hand me downs, so I do buy him new things - but not like I HAVE to buy new for his brother.
partially b/c things like shirts and PJs ddn't hold up well from his brother, partly b/c he's just very differnt from the first and things that were perfect for Sean, look strange on Colin style - wise (I realize that sounds ridiculous, he's only 2 ......but it's true Lol)
I buy double (or similar) of things like superhero T's, PJs etc b/c I know Colin now likes them too - but I don't ever dress them in the same thing at the same time
ETA - my boys are the same season, so that helps too

I received a lot of hand me downs for my twins. so if I buy anything new I typically buy the same because they are identical and I think its cute they wear the same or I will do same with different colors.

Both my kids wear alot of hand me downs because my niece was a little older than DD1.
DD2 has hand me downs, but the seasons don't always match up with the sizes, plus she is more petite than DD1.
For instance- I have practically 0 summer PJs for her so I need to go buy new.

Occasionally if I see something really cute but, DS 2 currently has the largest wardrobe in the house - between what he got for his b-day and hand me downs that are like new from his brother and cousin...
For the fall I may - DS 1 grew very slow so he wore a lot of things out but, he also has things he never wore that are brand new.
He's in daycare full time too so I have been dressing him in those one piece outfits for the summer.

My boys are 14 months apart and for some cool pajamas and t-shirts I will by them the same things.
DS #2 wears lots of hand me downs though. It is a mixture and I believe ds #2 should get some new clothes too just not as much.
In additon for all holidays both boys get new clothes. I won't do the handme down from his older brother for the holidays.

DD2 is only 7w old, but already I am buying her new things. It is the same season, but DD1 was a little smaller, so it isn't exactly right. And a lot of DD's clothes are stained - I think the stains came out during the two years they were in the bags.
I am SO glad you posted this because it got me thinking about DD's old clothes and I remembered a whole bag that I forgot about! And the whole bag was DD2's size now, so another few weeks and I would have been beyond mad, so thank you!!!
ETA - to answer your question, I can't imagine not buying for them both when they younger one is old enough to ask.

Re: If you have 2 kids of the same gender, do you buy doubles of everything?
My boys are 25 months apart. Both summer babies too. Funny that my older DS is on the small side and DS2 is bigger. Sometimes the clothes literally go from DS1 to DS2. DS1 is much neater and not a big eater so a lot of his clothes are mint. He also was small so a lot of clothes I put away still had tags on it. A lot of DS2 does have hand me downs, but I like to get him his own stuff too. My mom likes to buy the boys a lot of similiar clothes too. DS2 has a ton of clothes between the stuff from his brother and new stuff.
