If you have a family share type plan for cells....how $ and what service?
I am SO fed up paying $80 for verizon when DH is the one that really uses it......I only use mine when I'm out of the house for a minute or 2 at a time.

DH & I have a family package and share minutes since I am like you and need only a handful of minutes per month. Our bill is still high b/c he has a blackberry service and 1200 minutes. This works out much better then each of us getting x minutes since most of mine go to waste.
Without the blackberry we are charged a base rate for the 1200 minutes plus $10 for the additional line.

We have Cingular. 3000 minutes a month for 4 family members. With taxes and all the other charges, it comes to about $250 month.

We have Verizon Family Share Plan with 3000 minutes. Our bill is usually $176 a month with taxes. I don't use more then 150 minutes but my DH needs them for his work. We also have the unlimited Verizon to Verizon. It comes in handy as all our family members are Verizon members.

DH and I share 700 minutes from Verizon. It's enough for us. most of the calls we make are "in calling" anyway.
we pay $70 a month

We have 1400 shared minutes w/Verizon. It's $99 + taxes per month, but I get 15% off through my job

Re: If you have a family share type plan for cells....how $ and what service?
My mom and I do the smallest Verizon family share plan. 700 mins, nights and weekends free, 2 lines $70 plus tax.
DH's family does a T-mobile family share. It's 5 lines, his mom, his dad, his grandparents, his brother and DH. Pretty much his parents only use the minutes, the other 3 joined just to get free calls to each other since ILs and grandparents live in FL, DH & his brother are up here. I'm not sure how much theirs is since ILs pay the bill since really no one else uses their phones.
ETA: Have you considered getting a prepaid phone plan like Virgin or something for you and then just a smaller regular plan for your DH?

Us too, but we get the discount through my DH's job.
