If you have a nanny, how do you handle vacation/holidays/time off?

We are looking into hiring a nanny. We found someone amazing. We needed part time care but are willing to pay/use her for full time because all the good nannies seem to only want full time.

How do you handle time off?
Do you just pay the same weekly pay no matter if you go on vacation or there are holidays?

We go away often. I can think of at least 4 weeks that I can think of in the immediate future that we will not need her (vacation and travel for holidays).

Plus I only work part time so I will probably be sending her home early often.

We pay her 2 weeks vacation and all holidays that I'm off from work. I look at it - why should be be docked because I can take off.

If she leaves early we still pay her the same because everyonce in a while we woulld need her to stay a little later so i think it is a give and take.

We give her a bonus at Christmas

Any other questions you can fm

I pay her weekly and pay her for all time off. She's been with us for 5 years and I don't want to nickel and dime (of course we're talking much larger sums of money Chat Icon ) every time she gets off.

I do have a lot of vacation time though, and sometimes it seems crazy, but for us, she's worth it.

I absolutely hate being nickel and dimed. Good point.

We know a nanny and she was ****** because her family goes on vacation and doesn't pay her. Then when they take off here and there, they ask her to make it up on the weekends. Needless to say, that nanny was not happy.

while ours hasn't been with us for 5 years - this is what we do. We pay her the same amount each week regardless. It makes for a much happier situation around. In turn, I give her as much notice about days we plan to take off or go on vacation, so she can coordinate things she wants to do then too. Works out well for everyone!

This is what we do too. She has only been with us for just about a year, but we have never docked her whether she took the day or we did. She is sooooo good with DD and it is just easier to keep everyone happy!

We don't have a nanny, but my MIL watches DS 3x a week. We pay her the same whether or not we have days off or take vacation etc. It's easier that way and she is always so accomodating if we need to change the schedule on short notice etc.

We also take about 4 weeks vacation per year (we don't always go away, but those are days she doesn't work).

She gets two weeks off with pay plus she's off with pay for the week between end of year holidays.

Off with pay for holidays but most of time she will still help out for a bit while I run errands and visit the doctor. She's great like that.

I work part-time and have a nanny come two days a week. I do not pay her for days she does not work that are scheduled ahead of time. I do pay her for days that we're home sick and don't need her or fi snow closes work and we don't need her.

She does not get paid on days she takes off.

She gets paid her daily rate no matter how early I come home, and gets a generous OT rate if we are late because of the trains.

She gets 1 week off full pay (so 4 days off a year), and she gets holidays off as well as paid vacation when we travel - about 1 to 2 weeks per year.

She gets paid when she stays late also, and full pay if I get home early.

If she is sick, or needs a day she can take a vacation day or go no pay...up to her.

Gets bonus at xmas and a raise each year...love her!!

Our nanny gets paid $20 per hour. She is EXTREMELY accomodating with DH and I schedules. Some weeks she works 15 hours, sometimes its 25 hours, and not always the same days. Also she works Sundays and comes to our house. She will be getting $500 at Christmas and July 4th. I think its totally worth for our situation. I know it sounds like alot of $$$, but we have very active 15 month old twins and they love her. We are willing to pay extra for her flexibility.
