If you have a Summer Infant Day/Night Color Handheld Video Monitor - I have a quick q for you...
On the handheld piece - what color is the word "Summer" written in - is it in blue or purple with a green circle around it? And, when did you purchase it?
I called summer b/c my monitor which always got really hot - actually MELTED! They told me it was not supposed to ever get hot like that so it must be defective - anyway, they sent me a replacement but it looks OLD and USED! I am just trying to figure out if it is actually an older model than mine b/f i call to complain...TIA!

On the camera? mine is Silver.. was bought back in july/07..
The part that goes into the wall on mine gets Hot.. but not sure of the camera.. What one was defective?
eta: handheld piece is either white or silver.. cant really tell.

Yeah, mine was purchased in July 07 and the word summer is in a shade of blue with a blue circle around it. I think this one that they sent me is very old. And, they put it in a new box! The one in the picture has the white lettering! And its all scratched up!
Did anyone else have to return theirs and get a replacement?
THe part that melted is the handheld unit...the front panely melted inwards away from the main panel. They said if it is on a regular surface it should NEVER have gotten hot - mine ALWAYS felt soo hot by the morning!

I leave the monitor on but not the video screen (is that what yhou mean?) unless I need to look at it b/c he wakes up. I do leave the monitor plugged in though...I hate when the battery runs out and it makes that horrid noise!

I leave the video screen on all night with mine and its never gotten hot.
thank god it only melted and nothing more serious happened.

My monitor has a blue background with the word Summer written in a darker blue. The circle is in the same dark blue as well. We purchased our monitor about 3 to 4 months ago. Our handheld unit gets warm, but never hot to the point that it's going to melt. The camera gets warm too, but not hot either.

Mine was bought in early 2007...I don't know the colors because I am at work right now, but I know it is silver and maybe white?
Anyway, mine gets very hot as well -- makes me nervous. I wonder if I should call and ask for a replacement. Good luck.
