Re: If you have family/friends outside of the country. . .
Posted by racheeeee I have to laugh at Sausage Rolls & Pork Pies, my husband loves them and I think they are the worlds most vile food!!!
My husband loves Sausage Rolls as well! I don't mind pies, but I'll only eat chicken or veg ones.
When I come back from the US I usually bring:
Peanut Butter cups Peanut butter chips Lots of clothes; they don't have a GAP here or any other American brands. The clothes are also expensive here and the quality isn't as good. You get what you pay for and they only have sales twice a year. Deodorant; my brand isn't here Face soap Bath and Body works lotions Buffalo wing sauce Books; they are expensive here.
I can't bring back that much food, because they are strict with quarantine; they check every bag.
I get a lot of because I bring back so much stuff and as a co-worker said I should be used to the products and life here, so I shouldn't be bringing that much stuff back with me.

But pancakes are still the #1 American "dinner" for them ( they could never eat that much for breakfast, I think we made them sick every morning! )
this made me laugh! Same thing happened with my family in Italy. We bring clothes, candy (the kids LOVE blow pops)iced tea mix, hot chocolate, Yankee shirts/hats. One time we brought scratch off's, THEY LOVED them!
I always ask for bed sheets, table cloths, Torrone, linen summer dresses (from the flea market)
omg torrone!!!

OMG, pork pies are nasty! Especially they way they talk about the 'jelly' like it's a good thing!

Posted by Erica but DH likes to bring home alot ...cured meats esp. fuet (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly), chorizo, manchego cheese, Spanish wine.
MMMMM! DH and I love Spain - whenever we're there, we hit the local market for some jamon and chorizo. Also love manchego and Spanish wine is so good and so cheap! Love it!

Re: If you have family/friends outside of the country. . .
I laughed about this thread this morning when I opened my kitchen cupboard and to my delight found a bag of Pizzaria Flavor Combos, another treat I bring back to the UK with me...
But I have a Costco right next to my regular supermarket, so I shop at Costco alot, they have a ton of American produts, including US magazines (YAY!!!) so I get tons of crap that I miss from home there!

So I am not now going to Greggs to get myself a Steak Slice...anything with puff pastry just tastes cheap and nasty to me after living in the UK for 10 years!!!

they usually just want clothes but sometimes they want food items too. Coffee believe it or not. My English cousins insist that our *supermarket* coffee is better than theirs.

Oooh, I forgot about Nibs, I miss them so! And people here just don't get it! I offered some to a friend once and he actually spit them out! The nerve, wasting my hard-travelled Nibs that way!
I wish we had Costco closer to us!
Not sure about you, but what I find the funniest is that you don't realize you can't get something until you NEED it and realize you can't find it in anywhere! I had a Nibs craving one afternoon and I was working near Waterloo station - I thought, no problem, I'll just run to the station and pick some up. About 12 stores later, it was not to be

You can find Nibs in London? Well, not so in the provinces! Not only is it grim up North, its nibs free. Anytime you want to come up to Manchester for a trip to Costco, let me know...we aren't far from the Lakes...

No, no Nibs here My friend brought me about 3 big bags from the US. Although they were Twizzler ones, not the little tiny bags that they used to sell in the stationery store near my parents. I really miss those!
The closest Costco is Purley Way - which I guess isn't that far, although we would need a car! There's no reason to go into Costco if you're not going to stock up!
