If you have more than one cat
Do people think you are a crazy cat lady/person? Most of my friends and family hate cats and when they come over they are like "gosh how many of these things do you have". I have two cats. I don't think that's excessive at all and I think as long as the cats and your home are well taken care of i.e. no urine smell, cats with leaky eyes, etc then I don't think a person with more than one cat is a creepy cat lady.
Idk, it just seems like everyone I know has a thing against cats. One of dh relatives is literally afraid of them. I don't get it.

I have two cats as well. Like you said, once the house is overtaken by smell, fur, etc, then you have too many. Growing up, we had 3 most of the time and you would never know it. Crazy cat people have like 15!
I know a couple of people at work who get skeeved about cats --ppl look at then like they are nuts. Most of my friends like cats, I have a handful who don't and honestly, they're the crazy ones. End of story.

Re: If you have more than one cat
A couple of people I'm crazy, and I don't care. Over the years, DH and I have rescued cats from the streets, cats who were abused, cats who were left in the streets to fend for themselves...you get the picture. If that makes me crazy, well that's just fine. They are the most spoiled cats ever, and they are all healthy, happy, and loving.
ETA: I realized my initial message sounds extremely bitter toward people, so I really should add that most people we know love them. Our cats are generally quite friendly and like to greet people, play, etc.

Re: If you have more than one cat
I have 2 and never got any comments about it. In fact- most people I know with cats have 2. I wasn't really looking to get 2 cats, but at the time we got them they were together in the cage and the woman from the rescue said they STRONGLY prefered we take them together. And I just couldn't break them up. No way. They were babies and they were siblings.
And having 2 has been just as easy as having 1 IMO. And it's great because they have each other when we aren't home and they do play a lot and keep from getting bored.
I don't think 2- or even 3 cats - is excessive. They are some of the most low mainteince pets you can find IMO

Re: If you have more than one cat
People are always shocked that I have two cats and a dog
I came into our relationship with a dog and DH had a cat and together we got a cat. We both grew up with cats and dogs so to us its the norm.

Re: If you have more than one cat
2 cats doesn't equal crazy cat lady
15 cats and a whole wardrobe of cat shirts, socks and pants equals the crazy cat lady!!

Re: If you have more than one cat
I have 4 cats. People who know me don't question it because they know that 2 of them are products of infertility/loss. Before trying to start a family, I had 2 cats.. but then as we went through devastating circumstances, a new kitten seemed to pick up the pieces... and honestly.. I'm SO happy I made the decision to get them. Of course I wish my pregnancies had worked out, but they didn't ... and now I have these little loves of my life that I wouldn't have had otherwise
I personally don't care what people say or think.. I mean.. I do enough shit for people to judge If owning 4 cats is one of those things, so be it.
