If you have one of those car top cargo carriers...

...do they really fit a lot of stuff? Are they worth it? To me they just look so small and it's not worth it to just shove in a few extra things, but everyone seems to have them so maybe I'm wrong. Thoughts?

I have a soft Thule carrier. It hold a TON of stuff. What's great about the soft ones is that it folds up real small for storing at the house, and I can also take it off and keep it in the hotel room. We go to a PT Cruiser car show every year, and it's nice to leave the carrier in the motel and not leave it attached to the car for the show.
Also, when I get to the motel, I just unstrap the bag, and bring the entire thing into the motel in one trip. It's heavy, but I can usually park right in front of our room, so it's really convenient.
