If you have one of those outdoor plastic playhouses?
What do you do to keep insects out of it...or am I being delusional? My DD isn't a fan of spiders, and I always have to go in and wipe it down for her and I always kill a few while in there (I HATE spiders, so this is huge for me, lol). Also, I recently found a few earwigs and I hate them as well! Is this just normal for a play house and I need to Suck it up and deal with the insects, or do I need to get my yard treated by an exterminator or something???

There really is no way to prevent them, but I try and hose the plastic stuff down before she is going to use it. I find the water helps get into all the crevices where the little critters like to hide, plus it gets any webs down. I also found putting a rubber mat under the house helps a little bit. If it is under trees you might want to try moving it to a more open space, too.

We power wash them a lot and use the hose to rinse them out a few times a week. We keep ours on the deck and have a lite fake grass under it so it doesn't get too bad.

Its outside so I don't think you can do anything other than clean it periodically.

Thanks, I never thought to hose it off before she uses it, but that's a hole lot easier than wiping it down with my vinegar cleanser and paper towels each time. We have it on those rubber mats and it's not directly under any trees, though our yard has lots of trees and is buggy.

Honestly, unless I found bees in them, I used it as a teaching moment. I left the bugs in there, and have taught DC that bugs aren't bad, and some of them are actually pretty good. They still don't like bugs in the house, but they are pretty comfortable with bugs outside now.
ETA: Plus, I'm too lazy to clean out their playhouse every time they go to use it....

that.. until she came screaming inside that the spider had eating up the family of flies (umm family of flies) Ugh
But if motivated enough to play she could care less. I had issue with fire ants who'd camp out at the bottom of the slide. So we kept it on the porch and only moved it on the grass to play.
But yes... I've hosed it down after months and months of disuse. We have jumping and biting spiders here Id rather not have to deal with.
Actually got ride of that playhouse and slide last month (thank god)
ETA: Oh and life lesson on Lizards and toads and what they eat was involved LOL

There's a spray called backyard spray I can't remeber the company. It's a blue and grey bottle. It hooks up to the Hose. Dh sprays the house down with that when he sprays the outside about every 2 weeks or so. More id it rains. That seems to help. Also we moved it out from under the tree
