Re: If you have a holiday at your home, and your home is small
Yes. The largest we had was for Thanksgiving, and it was 18 people. That does not include New Year's which I make a casual dinner with family & friends. Usually that is around 25.
ETA: We put the DR table in the LR. It is tight but we work it out.

I have a huge family and DH family is huge also and we have everyone at my house. It does not matter to us we all will bundle up just as long as all the family are together.

Re: If you host a holiday at your home, and your home is small
I have a HUGE family, and with them alone, it's 18, plus DH and I.
Rob's family lives in Las Vegas and Australia, and he is not very close with them, so we really do not spend holidays with them.

Re: If you host a holiday at your home, and your home is small
I used to live in a one bedroom apartment, and would host Thanksgiving usually no less than 18 people.

Re: If you host a holiday at your home, and your home is small
My house is small and I couldnt imagine having more than ten, possibly twelve, people for a sit down dinner...That would mean just one side at a time..Casual parties could be both.

Re: If you host a holiday at your home, and your home is small
DH's immediate family (parent's, siblings, their SO's and kids) winds up being 22 people and his mom's house is small. She utilzes her L-shaped LD/DR by putting a huge folding table in the LR (in addition to the DR table already in the DR).
My stepmom's family is large as well (usually about 16) so it would be insane and completely undoable, to have them ALL together in anyone's house! LOL

Re: If you host a holiday at your home, and your home is small
When we host a holiday, it is in our 1 bedroom apartment (which is in his parenst house).
We alternate holidays since we got married, so if a holiday lands w/ his family where it is only them.....I will have it in my apartment (6-8 of us if my Grandma & Uncle come over).
If DH aunt & uncle & 2 cousins come...then we eat upstairs in his moms dining room.
EITHER WAY....... I do almost all the cooking because DH prefers my stuff & frankly so do I!!!!
