If You Live/Have Lived In East Rockaway
Do you know anything about train station parking? Do I need a permit and how do I obtain one?
I'm doing some research, but if anyone has an answer off the top of their head, I'd appreciate it.
TIA!

Re: If You Live/Have Lived In East Rockaway
You do need a permit - my dad gets one at the Village Hall on Atlantic Avenue by Memorial Park. But his is so he can park overnight. They only have room for 2 cars in the drieway and there are sometimes 3 cars depending on who is staying there. You can't park on the street overnight, so he parks the car at the train station right up the block (ER, not Centre Avenue).
Try calling this number to find out. 516-887-6300

Yes you need a permit. You could chance it and park in the Pathmark parking lot but your car can get towed.
However what you can do is park a few blocks away. I grew up in Oceanside but just a few blocks from the ER train station. You can park on Henry St or Evergreen Ave in O'side, which is a 5 minute (even less) walk to the station. Or you can park in East Rockaway off of the street where the Bold O'Donohue's Pub is (I forget the name of the street, it's right next to the tracks across from the train parking lot) which also would be about 5 mins walk from the station. ETA: this is for the E. Rockaway station not the Centre Ave one.

This is true since Lynbrook is a 4 while Centre Ave,ER, etc is a 7. The only drawback of parking on sunrise is if you get there late you will be walking about 10 mins to the train station.

Davison Plaza, I know that street very well, I grew up on it, further down the road.
There is a small srip for parking, but it is permit only. And the streets surrounding that area are also less then 2-hour parking. This is because the residents were tired of people parking on the street for the train. I was very lucky growing up there, I could walk to the station in less then 5 minutes and didn't need to drive and park!
