I know Plainview doesn't have an LIRR stop so what s tation does everyone go to? Hicksville? Bethpage? Syosset?

So confused with this? And if so how much does it cost to park?

TIA!

Re: If you live in Plainview....what LIRR station do you use?

I live in Bethpage on the border of Plainview. I take the train from Bethpage.

You could also go to Hicksville and there are more trains since it's a LIRR hub. I think I pay $10 a year for my permit.
There are parking spots that are 2 hour if you don't have a permit. Just look for spots that don't require a permit if you don't have one or they will ticket you.

Either way, if you get to the train station later than 7-7:30 you will find it hard to park legally.

Syosset isn't much better.

It depends where in Plainview you are...but I do know that the parking permit for the Town of Oyster Bay is $20 for 2 years.

I live on the border right near Blu-ize. I have used both Bethpage and Syosset stations. the schedule used to help me decide which one to use.

I go to Bethpage. Hicksville is too hard to park at, and Syosset was too hard to get a seat on the trains I was taking.

If I go out in the city after work, I will go down 135 to Seaford as I can park there without a resident sticker, and the trains are more frequent after rush hour.

Also look at the schedules to see how many stops that train has before your desired station.

In Bethpage I think I took the 7:58 train. The first stop was Bethpage and I always got a seat, but it was semi-local so it made a bunch of stops. In Syosset I think I took the 7:35 and the only stop before that was Huntington - didnt have a problem getting a seat on that one either.

Thank you for saying this b/c I'll be moving soon and was considering trying Hicksville train (I go to Hunterspt - not Penn) and the schedule from hicksville is just better but not if I can't park.Chat Icon

parking in hicksville is horrendous. Bethpage is bad too if you are not there by 7:30.

Re: If you live in Plainview....what LIRR station do you use?

DH goes to Hicksville mostly because there are more trains coming home and his hours aren't set so the convenience is big..you do need to get there by 7 to get parking and you won't be close to the station...as for bethpage, it's great because he gets there just before 7 and still great parking but coming home, if you have set hours and will always make the same train, great, if not...well...not so easy...hth
