If you live on LI/Suffolk county (especially "coastal")
Can you please recommend your homeowners insurance company. After being with State Farm for 9 years, they decided to no longer insure this area. After calling around, it seems a lot of companies will not insure this area all of a sudden I need a new policy in 2 weeks.

My whole LI based family uses Ameriprise for home and auto now that Allstate has pulled out of the area.

We had the same issue plus our house has asbestos shingles which was another reason companies would not insure us.
I get my insurance through the Sutton Agency in East Islip. Through them I have a car and home policy under Merchants.

try Interboro Insurance . We went through the same thing with my moms house and this was like the only company we could find. Rate wasn't high either - only thing is they required 1 year paid upfront.

Go to an insurance agent they will be better equipped to help u than just calling the separate companies...

Yup State Farm dropped us too. We got the best rate with TSC direct, good luck!

Dina my parents are in Seaford and State Farm just dropped them too, they have been clients for over 20 years They actually got the best quote by contacting Progressive! Give them a call. I also agree with Julie about Interboro

Re: If you live on LI/Suffolk county (especially "coastal")
State farm insures us for flood insurance (through FEMA)' we live in a flood zone (we are right next to a canal). we were thankfully grandfathered under the old policy so our rates did not increase substantially because DH got the policy right before our house was drained and labelled as "within a flood zone". we pay around $375 a year.
The State Farm agent we got it through is in Southhampton...
