If you make your own baby food-Where do you buy your produce?
I have used Trader Joes in the past...Not really too thrilled with some of their stuff and I have had to bring it back.
Anywhere else??
thanks

Whole Foods? Grocery stores also have a section of organic produce. You could look into an organic csa

Down in Florida, I use Target Superstore and get organic.
In NY, I will go to King Kullen or Whole Foods.

Frozen Organic veggies and fruits are the best for us.
I find them everywhere (shop and stop, target, fairways, costco) either peas, or carrots, or mixed veg, or peaches, etc.
Not everything, what I can't find frozen I get a local health food store (Brooklyn) that has seasonal organic produce.

not sure where you live, but we've tried the produce sections at various supermarkets -
stop and shop oceanside stop and shop inwood waldbaums oceanside waldbaums long beach
we also tried trader joes in hewlett
we were not impressed!
we found jandis and wild by nature in oceanside and now those are our go-to places.
we prefer wild by nature over jandis, but they are both okay.
jandi's produce section is pretty small.. but they have good stuff. wild by nature has a bigger produce section which is awesome and they also sell chicken, meat, fish, etc. they also have conventionally grown produce which makes it easier as one-stop shopping for us and loey (we eat conventional - not just organic)

How far in advance did you start making the baby food? I am going to start veggies next month. Is it silly to start freezing it now? Am I better off waiting?

You can make it and freeze it for about six weeks.

I usually buy organic from Stop and Shop in Glen Cove. They don't have every single thing, but they have a lot! I've also bought from Grace's Marketplace in Roslyn and Pathmark has a small organic section too.

Give cross island fruits a try too! They are right in malverne and all locally grown produce. The price is right too!

In NY I used wild by nature or any 'green' type store I could find
I found a green store here in TX that I used too.

King Kullen has a pretty big organic section in commack. Stop & Shop Natures Promise for vegetables is easy for me. I go to Trader Joes too.
