If you only leave your kids with family members...
What do you do when there is a family event (like a wedding) where every one that would normally watch your children will be but, your kids are not invited.
Just curious!
TIA!
ETA: Including in-laws attending the family event.

We haven't had this situation yet, but we will in September (my sil is getting married and my family is attending as well). Our goal for the summer is to find a babysitter to use that night. We have someone, but haven't taken the plunge yet and it's been 4 years!

Re: If you only leave your kids with family members...
I actually have this problem coming up in August. We have a wedding out east so not like i could even just put DS to bed early and just ask a friend to sit in our house with DS until we got home. So I'm either going to make a weekend of it and get a hotel and just bring DS (kids are invited so that probably doesnt help you ) and leave early when he gets sleepy OR $uck it up and ask the IL's. I'd honestly rather go with the hotel option lol.

Then I would ask my inlaws.
We are having this situation now. My BIL is getting married in 2 weeks. My oldest (8) is the ring bearer but I need a sitter for my youngest (11months) and I am praying my mom doesn't back out. If she does then I won't be able to go to the reception. Which stinks but my mom is the only person on my side who is around to watch DS.

I dont really have a backup. We have a family wedding next year, so my SIL could possibly watch DS, but I dont know yet.

Re: If you only leave your kids with family members...
DS is to be a ring boy at an evening wedding, that starts 2 hours before is bedtime. We are going to try to bring lots of bribes, stroller, and all sleep supplies. But chances are if he sees people and hears music he will be up and wanting to bop to the music. So realistically hope he'll pass out at the end of the night and sleep it off forever.
Normally, I hope that people understand. I'm too paranoid leaving DS with people I don't know very very very well. If its DH family, I stay home, if its mine DH stays home. That is if either one of the grandparents can't do it.

I have a few close friends who i'd trust watching DS. Otherwise only 1 of us would go.
