Re: if you potty trained on a floor potty, which one did you use?
Baby Bijorn Potty We have the one in blue. The reason I loved this potty for DS is that the shield in front is solid so he could not get his parts caught. How uncomfortable that must be.
For a potty ring we have: sesame street potty ring Ours has a slightly different pattern as it is over two years old at this point. I love it because it is cushioned and can come out of the shell for cleaning. It was also a good way to transition to the larger potty. [eta: you need to have the correct shaped toilet for this one to work. It needs a round toilet, not an oval one. Also, I would only transition to it once your DC has really mastered using the bijorn and can keep himself level.]
For a great potty book, I have this in both the boy and girl version for DS and now for DD:
Girl's Potty Time Boy's Potty Time
Both of my kids loved these books. Good luck!

I had initially bought a talking elmo potty but I was told while at BBB by a BTDT mom that the simpler the potty the better sooo I bought the fisher price frog one and it worked perfect and had the raised front for boys.

Same exact set-up for us! We started potty training at 18 months. He loves his "teddy bear" potty and his Elmo potty seat.
