Please post here or FM me and let me know who you used and what you paid!
We need to have this done but we don't know if we can afford pavers or need to go with blacktop.
TIA!!

We had our patio done 3 weeks ago- all pavers (they said it was the largest residential patio they have ever done)
I highly recommend them. I can get the name and # from DH today if you'd like. I think the guy is from Portugal and it is a family business.

Re: If you recently had pavers put in for your driveway and walkway/stairs
We recently did our patio in March. The patio size is 1000 sq. ft. with 4x20ft walkway to the pool and 1 step. We paid $10/sq.ft. We are in NJ so I am not sure how it compares to NY. I know the places around me that is the going rate if not a few dollars more.
Once thing we didn't know and it ended up costing us because of this, is doing doing a lot of curves you have so much more waste which you are paying for. We bought 1200 sq.ft. of pavers so a lot of wasted. I love my patio I would have just rethought some of the design.
As far as product we used E.P. Henry Imperial pavers. The paver is rustic cobble in brindle with a 12 ft. circle kit in one section. Then we have a 6x9 boarder in charcoal. We also installed the E.P. Henry fire pit in the color Harvest. I love it and looks so pretty. The fire pit was $750 and is about 2 ft high by 4 ft. It comes with a copper bowl a cage looking thing to go over it when you have a fire burning and a grill if you want cook something on it.
We looked at Techo-block but I really didn't like them for reason.
I need to take some pictures. Another thing to consider which we didn't know was how expensive walls are. We wanted some retaining walls but they were $60sq.ft so we will add on to what we have down the road, maybe next year or the year after.

Re: If you recently had pavers put in for your driveway and walkway/stairs
I just had my porch, driveway, walkway, both sides of the house, chimney and patio all done in pavers. We used Maura Masons. They showed up everyday at 730 and finished the job in 10 days. They were also the cheapest priced we got by far. FM me if you want their number.

I was told blacktop and pavers generally cost the same.

not at all!
We're in the middle of having our driveway and walkway redone right now.
our driveway is about 1200 square feet and we had quotes anywhere from $9,000 - $12,000 to do it all in pavers. Generally, pavers are about $10 a square foot.
The same costs for black top and concrete came in around $7,000 - $10,000
We ended up going with concrete for the driveway, and pavers for the walkway and stoop since we just couldn't afford all pavers.
i can tell you at the end of the week if i'd recommend our mason! so far so good though..
if anyone wants the name of a few people to call, i'd be happy to give you the 3 people we narrowed it down to - they were all reasonable and the work looked good just fm me

That's what I was told when I had my driveway done so I went with pavers for that reason. This was over 3 years ago. Maybe each co is different but I had alot of work done by this company and that's what I was told.

Re: If you recently had pavers put in for your driveway and walkway/stairs
We used Above All Masonry, and would highly recommend them. Above All
I disagree that asphalt & pavers cost the same. I just posted pics of our project - in the itemized estimates, the cost of the paver APRON at the end of my driveway (roughly 140 sqft) was close to the cost of the entire asphalt driveway (800+ sqft).
Our estimates (pavers & driveway) were ~$7-10K, (Fernando, J&A Island Wide, Above All, KL Masonry & Fasco). The driveway was ~20-25% of the total cost.
We used Unilock "Brussels" in coffee creek (Unilock is slightly more expensive but once I saw them in comparison to Cambridge or Nicolock, I was sold)
