If you resign from your job
and give 2 weeks and your last day is June 1st--does your insurance stay until the last day of June? DH & I are trying to figure something out. Is it at the discretion of the company..?

It's up the company. You should be offered COBRA regardless.
For my company as long as you work the first day of the month, you are covered until the end of the month.

It depends on the company. I had one job where my last day was the last day of my ins & one where it carried through the end of the month.

Do you have an employee manual? Or did you sign a contract? It should be in one of those two places.

At my last job, coverage ended the day you left.
And at the new, it started on the 1st of each month.
So I had to work it out so I worked through the end of the month at the old, then started on the first of the month at the new.

At my job, your coverage endes on your last day.
If you take cobra:
If your last day is before the 15th of the month, your cobra payment covers that month. If your last day is after the 15th, your cobra payment will cover the following month as our company is responsible for the premium anyway.

i agree -- i think it depends. when i resigned from my first job, it was the 27th so they kept me on thru the end of the month. when i got fired at my last job it was the 5th of the month and they kept me thru the end of the month and then offered COBRA.
