If you suffered from PPD... when did it hit?

So far at a little over 2 weeks, I feel great, but I'm still worried about getting PPD...I've read it can hit anytime up to a year, but I've heard it mostly strikes in the beginning... just wondering when it hit for you...and how long it lasted

For me it came within the first month and stayed around for a while Chat Icon For quite a few weeks, I cried all the time. It was tough. I never in thought that I would have PPD but I did. I had a lot of family support so that really helped.

It started at maybe 4/5 weeks... I felt fine at first. It was really bad for 2 months.

It was within the first two weeks, but definitely got dramatically worse as time went on.

Re: If you suffered from PPD... when did it hit?

I never was "depressed" I became emotional after my milk came in (five or six days after CS). It passed quickly. I was upset I was having so many issues with nursing DS. Once he got the hang of it I felt 110% better. I just made sure I talked to my mom and my BTDT friends/ family.

I blame it on my pediatrician. He made me feel like I was starving DS trying to nurse him, and I just felt like I was hurting my baby after a doctor's visit where he told me to give up trying to nurse. That's not to say I wouldn't have been emotional any way, I just don't think I would have felt like I was getting off on the wrong foot of being a new mom and messing up.

Mine hit me around the six month mark. I was just really sad...I think going back to work and putting her in daycare really got me upset.

My second, I didn't experience any sadness.

If you feel fine, then I'm sure you will be ok, but just so you know, PPD can show up anytime within the first year after giving birth. Not to alarm you, just to inform youChat Icon
