so far, he only gets 1 bottle of formula in the course of the night and I'll be going to 2 (so far about 3 oz at a time).

How long until he gets used to it and it stops causing so much gas?

Not sure- when I supplemented, I gave Emma an oz of formula right after a feeding (4 times a day). She didn't get any straight formula for a while- later on, I mixed formula and expressed milk. Is that an option for you? I read somewhere that enzymes in breast milk help babies to digest formula- maybe that strategy will help you?

She didn't get better until I switched to Gentlease- then she was great!

We supplement at least 2 bottles of formula per day, each 2 1/2 to 3 oz. He took to it right away. When he does develop any gas that won't pass, we give him some Baby Mylicon (sp?) and it goes away. HTH.
