If you take/took a car seat with you on a plane but your infant was a lap child, did you take your car seat to the gate? Do they sell car seat travel bags?

If you take/took a car seat with you on a plane but your infant was a lap child, did you take your car seat to the gate? Do they sell car seat travel bags?
Originally I wasn't going to take the car seat. Then I didn't feel comfortable holding DS in the car in a cab. We are bringing so much crap with us. I don't know what to do with the car seat.

I bought a travel bag for it with wheels and brought it in to the airport with me and they used it in the car right after.

I bought a travel bag for it with wheels and brought it in to the airport with me and they used it in the car right after.
This is what we did as well. We checked the car seat as luggage.
