If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
Well you all know my story pretty much I have always done pretty well on CLomid. I am on 100 mg and I produce about 4 follies. My estradiol this month was 1500...I am so scared if I need to move on to IVF that I will overstim. Has anyone been in thsi situation? Financially we may only be able to do one IVF unless I can find a place that does outcome based plans AND I can use the grant(if I get approved)

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
would you be jumping right from clomid and naturally to ivf? what about iui? I did injectibles and an iui- i had no luck but we can't afford to try ivf right now so i think we'll be doing my iui's (if DH allows) in the future. he wasn't so thrilled seeing my bad reaction to everything but i'm definintely in the minority on that one- everyone else seemed to be fine after a few days...

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
I did 3 rounds of clomid and was on the lowest 50mg. each time I produced 2 good follies. I decided to move on to injectibles. The first two cycles I was on the lowest and produced 2 good follies. My 3rd cycle I asked to increase the dose to get more follies and the dr. did, but by very little and I responded very well, with 4-6 good follies. The NP said after she was a little concerned she thought I was going to overstim.
They monitor you so closely and adjust your amounts each day based on bloods and sonos that the chances of overstimming are very low.
Why don't you do one injectible iui just to see how your body will respond? for my IVF cycle the dr. is going to go low and slow for me because I am a good responder and doesn't want me to overstim. I'm sure your dr. will do the same for you since you are also a good responder.

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
From what my Doc said I am monitored everyday while doing stims and everything is adjusted so carefully that over stimming should not be a problem.. these places must have something in place if you over stim and payment of the IVF cycle.
From what I have read (and I have been on many message boards) so far I haven't read anyone's cycle being canceled because of OHSS. But maybe I am wrong.. I am sure it happens I just don't think that often in the IVF process.
I would talk to your IVF doc about your concerns about this and see what they say and how they handle an OHSS cycle.

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
I did 3 rounds of clomid IUI's with no luck. I got PG on my second round of injectable IUI. I was planning to go 1 more round of IUI (my insurance covered 6) before I moved onto IVF (which insurance did not cover).

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
I believe I have a tubal issue as we have been trying for 4 mos now and have always gotten pregnant in one cycle. I am missing one tube(removed because of ectopic) that is why we were moving on to IVF

right...totally forgot, sorry. I am sure when you do your IVF cycle the RE will take it slow and monitor you closely. I guess over stimming is always a risk, but I don't think it happens very often.

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
OHSS is only really common amongst women with PCOS. Even though you respond well to Clomid, the injectables shouldn't make you hyperstim. They will monitor you closely to see how you react. Usually, even if you do end up with OHSS, they will still do the retrieval since hyperstimming hasn't really gone into effect yet and then just freeze the embies for a month or so until you have fully recovered.
The only time I had a cycle cancelled due to OHSS was when I was doing IUI's. With IVF, they don't cancel the cycle - they just postpone the transfer.

Re: If you took Clomid and then moved to injectibles
I had a weird response to everything.
On Clomid most moths I was liek you with about 4 follies.
First month on Injects I produced a lot...almost stoped IUI.
Then I w ould get "used" to them and produce NOTHING. With my IVF, they put me intially on the higest dosage possible and I semi hyperstimmed in response.
Its just trial and error, your body can react to some drugs and others not as well. When on Injects they monitor you sooo closely b/c of that.
