If you took medication for PPD....
what did you take, how many mg, and for how long? Was it addressed with anyone other than your OB? Not sure what I am taking is the most therapeutic.
Feel free to FM if you do not want to reply here.

Re: If you took medication for PPD....
I took Effexor- but I stopped BFing first- DS was 5.5 months- I wanted to keep BFing so I waited on the meds- it was very hard.
I felt better after a week or two- really 80-90% better and had no side effects. I took 75mg a day- my OB recommended a therapist.

Re: If you took medication for PPD....
I was never actually treated for PPD. (although I had issues since the twins were born) It wasnt until I went through some really heavy stuff, a few years later, that I sought out help...but I was on Zoloft and Wellbutrin. One raised my dopamin levels and the other seratonin..you may very well have been given something that isnt working for you...I would possably consider making an appointment with a psychiatrist. My OB at the time would refer all his patients to a psych when possible. They ask you a ton of questions (that seem unrelated) and based upon your answers come up with an appropriate medication for you...Once I was treated things got better very quickly and went off the meds 1 1/2 years later.

TY ladies. It's funny I work in the mental health field you'd think I'd practice what I preach. I just took what my OB prescribed. It was actually my pediatrician who convinced me to go talk to a psychologist.
