If you traveled to Disney on a budget with family of 4, how much did you spend?

I am not asking how much it costs to go to Disney because obviously, it can cost as much as you want it to cost but I am trying to find out what is the least I should expect to spend for a family of 4 with 2 children, considering that we would want to see and experience all the basics.

Are you planning to stay onsite or offsite?

Are you flexible with when you can go?

What are the things you want to experience?

Do you feel you need/want to have a sit down meal every day?

Will you go back to your hotel for nap/swim break (recommended). How long are you willing to travel to do this?

How old is your youngest? (under 3 is free in terms of tickets and a dining plan).

If you can be flexible with when to go, you can save a lot of money with the off season and sales. With a recent Jetblue fare sale and a Disney promotion, a family of 3 booked a 4 night/5 day trip including air, a moderate hotel, tickets and dining plan for ~~$2100. That was basically a lot of good luck and flexibility, but it was a great deal.
