If you want to refi but have a HELOC...

do you have to role the balance of your HELOC into your new refinanced loan or is that kept entirely seperate?

Is it with the same bank? I know when I was looking into re-fi, you did not have to put them together, etc.. but I have it with 2 sep banks so not sure if that matters

Thanks...I just called Citibank who we have our HELOC with and they said we can do it either way. I am not sure if it varies by the bank you plan on re-financing with...each may have different rules.

Anyway. their rates are at 5% right now.

Mine is with Citibank also, so good to know. My question is, we did not pay closing costs on the HELOC, do you think you have to now if you re-fi? I really need to take my time and look into all of this.
