If you were going to a baby shower for twins....

Would you spend more money on a gift because the mom to be was having 2? What if you had to travel and stay in a hotel for the shower?

I would not spend double that I would usually spend but maybe a little bit more than usual. At the end you should spend what you can afford specially if you are travel just for this.

Spend what you can.
As a mother of twins, don't give double stuffed animals, buy useful things. I've got pink/blue teddy bears, pink/blue monkeys, pink/blue bunnies, pink and blue turtles...you name it I got it...all useless.

I wouldn't spend double exactly, but more. I would 100% NOT get 2 of the same thing like PP mentioned. For my friend who had twins I got a whole bunch of stroller accessories - this way it was something for both babies, and I got more than I would have for a single baby.

Two babies. Double the gift or two gifts.

And I 100% agree with practical gifts.
Twin families need to buy at least 2 carseats, 2 cribs, 2 boppy pillows, 2 highchairs.
It's not as if we can use it for #1 and reuse it for #2. I'd do a gift card or diapers/wipes.

Just to illustrate the above point.... my co-workers gave me a huge bath and body works basket as my shower gift. I JUST got around to opening it, my kids just turned 6.
In the last 6 years I've had no time to use it, useless for a mother of twins.

I give two gifts. It depends upon my relationship with the parents. Some people I do spend double and others I spend about 1 1/2 times. I try to give practical gifts to parents of twins.

If its something that the person needs 2 of, I'd probably buy two. For example, if I chose to buy bottles, I would get double amount. Twin parents needs 2 of many things.

I'd spend more but maybe not double..I'd say 1.5 times the amount I'd normally spend.

I wouldn't travel and stay in a hotel for a baby shower unless it was my sister or one of my 1st cousins. Anyone else I'd just send a nice gift.

My SIL had twins.

I bought her the breast pump package.

(I didn't BF but this was a pretty pricey gift).

I agree...I also agree with the pp...don't get stuffed animals etc....I have so many pink/blue or 2 of the same stuffed animals it is insane. If you want to fill in with something buy diapers! I got so many diapers at my shower I didn't have to buy diapers for 7 months!

Re: If you were going to a baby shower for twins....

I'd probably spend a bit extra, but not double. For example if I was going to spend $60 on a shower for one kid, maybe I'd spend $85 for twins.

I agree. This is a good question, in the OP, because I've never encountered this and the post got me thinking -- but, I think this is what I would do (above).

I spend more but, not quite double.

I stuck to the registry though the times I had been invited and got 2 of the same thing (as requested).

Re: If you were going to a baby shower for twins....

I went to one for a family member, but my mom, my sister and I all split the price of the gift. We got her two of the rock and play sleepers and a few outfits. Since we were all going in on it we bought a little more, but if it was just me going I would spend what I could afford

I would probably just buy two of whatever item I choose. I guess that would be more.

This. I don't think the fact that she's having twins would matter to me. I'd buy whatever I could afford.

Re: If you were going to a baby shower for twins....

It would depend on my relationship with the parents to be. If we were very close I'd do whatever I could to be extra generous, but I'd do that with anyone I was close with.

Either way I'd *try* to give a little more, but I wouldn't overextend myself. I would hope any gift I gave would be appreciated.

Ditto. Probably a little more than I would normally spend but not double, unless it was someone like my sister or my bff. My cousin just had twins and I bought what I could afford.
