If you weren't born and raised on LI/NYC

How did you hear about LIF? And where are you from?

Im just curious as to how many of us are not native to the NYC/LI area.

Im from VA Beach, VA. I moved to LI when I was 22 with my husband (then BF) when he took a job in Greenport. We knew no one in NY at the time. We lived in NY for about 4 years and moved back home to VA Beach.

I found LIF through a co-worker about a year after moving there and was a lurker for a looong time. I have to say I was skeptical about joining at first but I do LOVE this site now. Everyone is so helpful! Thats all

I am originally from the Hudson Valley area, but DH is from down here, and I live here now. I found out about this site from The Knot/Nest.

I don't think I've been back to that site since!

I was born and raised in CA until I was 8. Then moved to PA. Went to school in VA and then moved to NYC after college. My wedding was in NYC, and I found LIF through theknot.com when I was researching wedding stuff.

Born and raised in Michigan, moved to NYC after grad school, lived in Manhattan and later Astoria for about 8 years (met DH during that time), later moved to Boston for a job (DH, then SO followed when he was laid off 2 days after helping me move - God wanted him to stay with me!), we lived there for 6 years during which time we planned our wedding. Found LIW looking for NY wedding info since his family was here and mine was scattered all over the country - we decided it was best to plan the wedding here. Moved to LI in '02.

I'm originally from baltimore. I moved to LI when I got engaged (8/08), DH is from Southampton. We got married in Baltimore, but I still used LIW for lots of ideas. From that site, I came here.

I was born and raised in rochester but moved to queens yrs ago... I heard about LIF through LIW

Born and raised in LI. I did not hear about this site until a patient's husband in my office told me about LIW and then I heard about this sight thru LIW.

I was born and raised elsewhere but moved to LI for college. I found LIW when I started planning my wedding and then found out about LIF from there.

I was born and raised in New Jersey, but live on LI now. I found LIF when I was researching a doctor...her name came up on a post here.

I'm originally from the Rochester, NY area. I found LIW when wedding planning, met a wonderful group of 06ers (and some rockin' 05ers) and naturally transitioned over to LIF.

Moved to NYC in 1999
Got engaged in 2003 and found the site by looking for wedding stuff, dresses, etc.

That was way before LIF existed. So I sorta grew with it. kicking and screaming I might add

I am Upstate in Saratoga County, I have actually never been to LI although I did have an internship in NYC in college.

I found LIW through a google search when I was looking for wedding hair styles. I really enjoyed the site and got TONS of incredible ideas from it. I moved over to LIF after the wedding and now I get tons od ideas for tings to do with DS. I had never heard of a cake smash before this site I do wish there were a site like this for the Capital District region!

Grew up in Boston, moved to NYC after college with a boyfriend. that didn't last

Met DH at work and he was from LI. I eventually wanted to move out of Brooklyn and get more space, so i moved out to LI.
then we got married and bought a house here

I was introduced to LIW in '05 when i got married, by a friend who had used it for her wedding. Then she turned me onto LIF and i joined in 06, but didn't really start lurking or posting until '08 when we bought our house.

I was told about LIF from Lastchance1222.... If I need any help finding a place on the island ask these people she said and she was correct.... Very helpful people on here.

Born and raised in good ol Southern California!

Found LIF while web surfing real estate on LI!



Random small world fact:

2 LIFers were born and lived in the same 2 places I did as a child/adult!

They both moved East as children and I still live in So Cal!

Neither DH nor I ever lived on LI! We were getting married on LI though so I found LIW (through a friend who was on there). I got married in 2004 and moved over here when it started.

I've lived in at least 15 different cities but mainly I'm from Philly area and moved up here in 1999 to live with my DH (boyfriend at time) who is from Syosset. I can not for the life of me remember how I found this site but it was just LIW at the time and a whole different look to it!
