if your bedrooms are all upstairs...

where does the baby nap?

upstairs in their crib?
or do you have a bassinet or something else on the 1st floor for them to nap in?

I'm wondering if I need a bassinet or pack-n-play for downstairs...or if the baby will nap in the swing, bouncy seat, or in their crib?

please share your experiences - thanks!

Re: if your bedrooms are all upstairs...

My sister has 3 levels in her home and had 3 bassinets Chat Icon I may have 2, one for upstairs and downstairs or just use a packnplay downstairs.
IT really depends on how your days are spent. Since were SAHMs, she did her home business downstairs, cooked/cleaned on main floor and slept upstairs, so it was essential that she had a place for her close by at all times.
You can def get away with a packnplay on main floor, a bassinet in the bedroom.
They DEF nap in the swing alot, and VERY NICELY TOO. a mommys dream Chat Icon '

whatever works for you, but you will def need accomodations for the little one in each nook and cranny of your house. They will slowly take over the premises, you'll see Chat Icon

My sister and I have heart failure as we look at all the "STUFF" that new moms register for.
We can do a process of elimination in 60 seconds of unnecessary things that will simply take up space in the house and just add clutter Chat Icon Like 2 different ones of this and that. NOT necessary.
and thats not counting the toys!

We spend most of the day in our family room/den, so we used the pack n play in there for diaper changes and naps and then bedtime in her crib.

Once she got on a regular napping/bedtime schedule I always put her to sleep in her crib.

Around about 3 months.

I forgot to say that she sometimes napped in her swing, and she was colicy so sometimes the bouncy calmed her down.

Same here, except she never really slept in the pack n play; in fact, she never really slept *anywhere* during the day when she was really small. Actually, when she did nap, up until 1 month or so, it would be in the boppy on the couch.

We did the same thing 0-3 months but once they outgrew the upstairs bassinet, I stopped using the pack n play since I wanted them to get used to the crib for sleeping.

We keep the pack and play downstairs and I couldn't live without it! Brendan naps in the bassinett part when we're downstairs and we use the changing table on it all the time. So much easier than bringing him upstairs to change him!

I had a bassinet downstairs and a cradle in my bedroom. During the day he would nap in the swing or the bassinet. I found it really helpful. Also for the first 3 months I kept alot of stuff downstairs that way I didn't have to run up and down all day.

In the very beginning she napped in the pack n play in the living room but I soon learned that was not ideal. I coudln't get anything done for fear of waking her. Now she naps upstairs in her crib but before that she napped in her bed in our room but we've since moved her into her own room.

When Nate was smaller, he napped in his pack 'n play on the first floor. If I'm not being lazy I'll put him in his crib upstairs to nap, but he usually naps on the bed in the guest room.

I had all intentions of doing the Pack N Play on the first floor. But it was big and ackward in my den so we returned it. So she either stays in her Papasan swing(which is rare) or I bring her up to her crib. The video monitor has been great for that!! I am a firm believer in getting them used to their crib Chat Icon

Re: if your bedrooms are all upstairs...

She naps in a NOJO sling or mine, DH or moms arms. Our bedrooms are upstairs and we have 3 floors... Her cradle which she won't sleep in is in our room along with her Eddie Bauer Bouncenette she won't stay in long and First Years Close and Secure Sleeper she will sometimes nap in. We have a Pack and Play in the den on the main floor which she won't nap in too long nor will she in her Graco Swing in the finished basement... We think she just doesn't like to sleep... Her crib in the nursery, she doesn't like to be in there either, looks like that room is more for show than anything...
