If your car was damaged or totaled by Sandy, have you gotten paid by insurance yet?

My parents' car got crushed by a tree and was totaled. We had actually just bought the car for my parents in September. When the insurance company asked my dad who the lien holder was, he wasn't sure and I think his paperwork got pushed to the bottom. We paid for the car in cash so there was no lien holder. They hit their rental car limit and the car was towed away over a month ago.

If your car was damaged or totaled, have you gotten your insurance proceeds yet?

I want to buy them a new car next week. DH prefers to wait until we get the insurance proceeds. It has already been 2 months. We just paid for the car. The title and insurance is under my dad's name.

A neighbor went through something similar and I know he recently paid out of pocket while he is waiting to be reimbursed through insurance.

My DH's car was totaled due to flooding. It was taken care of some time in November. It took probably about 3 weeks from the time it was towed

A friend's car was flooded and he was already paid and got his new car last week.

My boss's husband got his new car the week before Thanksgiving. But they bought it without the insurance check. They got the insurance check the first week in December.

When was the last time they reached out to the adjuster, what was the status?

Id definitely start calling. Who's the carrier?

My DH was issuing checks on the spot for people who were able to sign over the title on total loss due to flooding. He works for Geico

Geico towed mine on Thanksgiving, but still haven't seen a check. I am hoping this week....

My dad got his car towed away right after the storm and he got his check 2-3 weeks later.
